  • Dumb question. i recently got back into guitar and lately been gravitating more towards hard rock/metal. Whats the best way for me to get a similar tone for the songs im trying to learn or am practicing playing? Keep in mind im using a extremely old guitar and older amp. Ibanez GIO that I have had sincei was like 12/13 and im 31 now, and a Fender Champion 20 amp. I cant for the life of me get what im playing to sound mostly even remotely close, lol. Is it a hardware issue? Or is it something software related that I could do like playing into my PC. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hey Josh, could you please post the link to the video you did on PC interface and guitar tone?

  • I've been trying to learn guitar for 7 years, 3 years of practicing every day, taken a class, watched thousands of youtube videos, lots of rocksmith, and it still just never clicks in my head. Can't play anything thats not on rocksmith lol. Drives me crazy

  • This was a great video. I agree with all your tips are very helpful. I would add one more and this is probably the second step after getting an instrument and learning the basics of the instrument. But make some Guitar friends, especially ones who play the style of music that you want to play because that will help you expand your knowledge exponentially

One of my first guitar teachers was a folk guitarist and so I did learn a lot of the finger style things and even my much more accomplished metal and guitar friends are impressed by the little simple finger things I can do even though I can’t do a lot of the things that they can do which I find much more complicated and impressive

  • I think it’s also good to add on your point about not buying an expensive guitar to start with not that anything I have currently is expensive or that nice but the nicer the guitar usually the heavier it is so if you’re just starting out having to carry around this cumbersome Les Paul or solid flying V guitar is disheartening in my opinion.

  • positive grid makes a $300 50 watt amp called the spark 2 that you can connect to a smart phone and it's a fully digital setup with effects and different amp styles and everything

  • Okey.
I am 43 years old, and just started to wonder if it would be fun.
I know nothing at all about music, and i mean nothing, when looking at notes, that to me is Predator language "film predator"
    I have some rythm
and i like to listen to a lot of metal.

    I know nothing.

Is it possible if i have the will?

  • I’ve played guitar (acoustic) for around 3 years, almost exclusively fingerstyle. I’ve recently gotten a bit bored of learning the same stuff over and over and was just wondering how I would go about learning metal specifically. I think my airpods are scanning my brain and interpreting my thoughts. I’m scared. Help.
