MIDI as a programming language is such a fascinating concept to me.
????????
thanks for this breakdown
Uncle Yoshi, what do you think about the Line 6 Helix Floor Processor… and maybe for Kanami?
The RJM Mini Amp Gizmo is discontinued but yes, it allows you to to connect the midi out of the switcher into the gizmo then out to connect to the footswitch input(s) amps that don't have midi switching. RJM used to sell special cables for various amps which are basically midi to whatever the amp switch inputs take. In short, this allows Kanami to control amp channels and effects with a single button press.
if i had to guess the other wireless channel is for her spare guitar
Thanks Uncle Yoshi. Owner of a very basic setup helped in my understanding. I've seen pictures of her gear and your tour made sense of it.
Now I know why I play bass, even though my pedal board is crowded, and I don't have a Daisuke Kondo-sensei. Thanks for the tutorial. Now do Misa, Po! ???? ????????
Unsurprising why the band call it "mission control". ????
Thank you Uncle Yoshi. My mind is fried, but I have always been curious about Kanami's petal board
Thank you Uncle Yoshi, great review of Kanami's stuff, very interesting ????
Hi Uncle Yoshi. I'm one minute in and I have already added the Digitech – The Drop – polyfonic drop tune, to my list of stuff to buy. Some of the songs we''ve written is in Drop-D, and it's a pain to retune the bass every other song. I have tried tuning machines with adjustable drop, but when you drop to E to D on a bass, every other string goes out of tune. The Digitech Drop will solve this issue for me ????
After some digging, I've found that there is no pedal that can do Drop D on one string only, they can only drop from any tuning you have down to whatever you like, all strings at once. I have 6 basses, I may have to play one of my 4-strings in Drop-D and live with it. Then use my 5-string in standard tuning. I will have to live with the need to bring two basses to rehersal and gigs ????
Imagine the mental acuity to manage all these live!
Things have come a long way since slicing the cones and cranking the amp to 10 just to get some distortion. ????
I sent Dai-san a message on IG asking him if he would be willing to be interviewed about working for Band-Maid. I found out later that he was in the hospital, so I never received a reply. I wonder if I should send him another message. Maybe have him and Uncle Yoshi go through and have him explain all of Kanami signal chain and how he sets it up.
Holyy crap!! I couldnt wait to get home to watch this video!! This is amazing..I didnt expect it to be this detailed..this is gonna have me busy for weeks, hehehh…Thank you so much for this, Uncle Yoshi, great , great stuff!
Hi Uncle Yoshi! Great video man!
I'm a fellow player and semi – gearhead and it's always interesting to see the gear of players that I love. I'm not going to lie man, that pedal board gives me a headache. I've always had a much more stripped down setup when it comes to pedals. I don't want to have to keep track of all that s*** or have to reach far to step on something when I'm playing. For me it's distracting. Also, judging by the guitar tones from the Yokohama okyu-ji, I think that I like the Rectifier more than the Bogner. It's not that the Bogner sounded bad at all, but it seemed to have a more pronounced upper mid thing happening and a little less low end. During the battle with Misa on "Don't You Tell Me" it sounded like maybe there was a clean signal blended with the drive signal. Again, not bad by any means. It's quite good in fact. But I think that I prefer the low mid gnarliness from the Mesa. It's not a massive difference, but I think that you understand what I mean.
It's cool to hear that you use Mesa/Boogie gear. I don't have any of their cabs, but I play through a Mk4 Boogie head into an Orange 4×12. That amp might be the best purchase that I've ever made.
Cheers!
Edit;
When Band-Maid toured the US in 2023, I'm completely convinced that they left their amps at home and were using modelers. AxeFX 3s or something like that. I didn't see any heads on top of any cabs. If you look back at Lollapalooza or any of the fan cams, you'll see what I believe are AxeFX 3s. Even Misa. This is very likely a reaction to the trouble that they had opening for TLRS when Miku's amp blew up.
Will watch this video asap this evening ????looking forward to it.
Also, funny to add that in the 80's I was using MIDI to connect a Roland D-20 and a Yamaha DX100 to a Lowery organ, running the sequencer from the Roland in to run drum samples, etc. Fast forward 35 years, it's funny that it's the same system being used!
Awesome explanation, thanks for the details, I had read the article but not being a guitar gearhead, didn't understand much. This was perfect!
This is great! First time ever I actually understand something about these ???? Thank you ????????????
Great video and explanation. Wonderful, that’s awesome content ????????????
Beat me to the punch, great video!
Nice, have to watch later when I have time ???????? Thanks Yoshi very detailed. Amazing! Can you imagine all the setup that goes on before the show wow ????
It seems that Bogner showed her much respect , I'm still disappointed in PRS , KANAMI has worked so hard ! love the breakdown of the video . thank you .
