  • I heard Kirk Hammet bought it for something like 2 million. Shame. He can't play his way out of a paper bag.

  • Great knowledge of two great guitarists, and a great player you are, thanks for the information on peters Les Paul that Gary played on his Blues for Greeny Album, great tribute to Peter.R.I.P to them both.????????

  • I've never thought about it this way before, but the neck pickup is essentially wired the same as the middle pickup is on a strat, which when you combine it in parallel with either the neck or bridgein those in-between positions, you get the out of phase sound.
The same exact this is whats happening on this guitar, but they're humbuckers so it sounds a bit different

  • There's a lot of knowledge in this video. I have a couple of 'Pauls, both with low wind, random wound PAFs, both great. I want to know how to butcher one of them to get that lovely soulful
"Telecaster on steroids" sound. Turn the p/up? Could it be that easy? Flip the magnet? Invert the hot and ground? All the above? Who knows? Anyone?

  • As much as this is the Peter Green guitar and tone form the original owner with that reverse magnet pickup, it's better known as Gary Moore's guitar due to his amazing solo career that brought more attention to this guitar and that's why when Gibson made a signature guitar it was the Gary Moore model and that's why it should be know as the Greeny/Moore guitar combining the two great guitarist! I don't like Phil Harris's cheeky demeaning take on Gary Moore, it makes Phil sound as if he is jealous of not being in the same caliber as the great Gary Moore! Shame on him!

  • The only thing that makes this guitar super special is that neck pickup.
Of course besides being a 59' Burst.
I spent my very first payment I've earned when being 16 on a 1979 Hamer Sunburst (1750 DMark) only in hope and desire of that sound I had heard on those Fleetwood Mac recordings.
A bit odd for an extremist Beatles fan that I was (still am) and that just had fallen in love with the music of Hendrix, Clapton and Miles Davies.
Hamer claimed that they made the guitar just for the purpose of recreating this neck pickup's sound.
I think they failed totally but I love my Hamer Sunny anyway.
They had Gibson replacement pick up on the first runs but when Gibson realized that those guitars are real challengers to them they stopped supporting Hamer. That's when they turned to DiMarzio to fill in the gap.
But since DiMarzio was well known for their pumped up versions of PAFs they ordered customized ones.
Instead of beefing the bridge pickup up to make it hotter, as it was the fashion of the time and the main reason for DiMarzio's success, the guys from Hamer asked literally for the opposite. They ordered standard pickups for the bridge and down wounded ones for the neck position.
Then they wired the pickups in a way that you get an out of phase sound when you select the both pickups together.
That is obviously not exactly what "Greeny" is like. The poorly (thanks and thumbs up to those that were in charge in some higher realms for taking care…) repair at Selmer's instead has created a unique sounding pickup in itself. It has this flute like quality in its sound no matter if it's combined with the bridge pickup or not.
Fun fact, well not so funny back in the day, the headstock came off at around 2001 as well and I had to get it repaired two times to get it fixed.
I did not not know "Greeny" had a similar issue. Maybe I subconsciously went a bit too far in my attempt to recreate the desired sound ????????

  • The sounds of this Greeny has hollow tone.. that's why the sound so airy and clear.. hollow tone with clear definition of each strings .
This is really the sounds of Les Paul .
    Like a Tele on steroids..

Nowadays Les Paul is a fake..sound like ordinary modern guitar..
    Good but boring .

  • (Jaime–Peter sys he wants "Bluey" (because it sounds like a "rare bitch" he compares to the famous "Scrapy" Les Paul Derick used on Hideaway and Steppin' Out as well as the other Blues breaker hits + his earliest Cream shoes including at Westport in 1966)

and I told him "NO" because it's yours to play until when/ome

  • What is it that makes you qualified to be custodian of this guitar? Do you have a castle that makes you more qualified than your average bear?
