youtube dot com / watch / yf1Eo-6sDIE (solo chorus starts at 1:53; you can hear the lick about 2:02)
The Sidewinder, from his 1964 album of the same name. This tune, and especially his solo on it, are seminal examples of 60's hard bop. FEEL that groove.
Hello David, great lessons!! what's the name of the Lee Morgan song that originated this lick??
Thanks Dave !
Im gettin´ hungry I will go grab a hamburger with cheese and fries, see ya! 🙂
Nothing is hipper than transcribing a Lee Morgan lick to guitar. I've heard that one a thousand times.
David,you are a great player and teacher too!
@tubpets Glad you like it! The backing track is just one I put together to demonstrate this lick. As to the tempo, try playing this lick along with a metronome set as slowly as you need to in order to get each note in time, and then gradually bring the tempo up from there. It also helps if you can learn to "hear" the metronome clicks falling on "2" and "4" instead of "1" and "3" or on all four beats.
@surrealIdeal I do
haircut!
That backing track is groovin!!
Cool
i'm first and nobody gives a shit.
