Legato Workout For Bass – Great Pull Off Practice!
This week we’re going to take a little look at legato technique in the shape of hammer on’s and pull off’s. To do this I’m presenting you with an etude taken from the recently released Technique Builder Course over at Talkingbass.
For a deeper dive into this topic check out the upcoming Technique Builder course: https://members.talkingbass.net/product/technique-builder-for-bass/
The course consists of two modules. In module 1 we look at building a basic foundation in all aspects of your technique and then in module 2 we work through 60 different etudes that put all of these fundamentals into practice by way of a variety of different melodic and harmonic scenarios. These include a whole host of different scalar, arpeggio, intervallic and chromatic lines as well as melodies typical of classical and jazz styles.

In the first part of the exercise when you move from the G string to D string 12th fret, do you pick the string or you just hammer on with. It seems like you don't start with picking. I tried this and it seems very hard to start with picking at the 12th fret of D string while I have to put my other two fingers behind the fretted starter note to be able to pull off.
???????????? thank U so much for this lesson
