EarthQuaker Acapulco Gold – Does Doom Really Need More Than One Knob? ????

In this video, I plug into the EarthQuaker Devices Acapulco Gold, a one-knob distortion pedal that sounds like an old Sunn amp cranked to 11 and then kicked down a flight of stairs—in the best possible way.

Huge, fuzzy, doomy, raw.
Whether you play doom metal, garage rock, or just want to punish your amp and audience, this thing delivers the goods.

Warning: It’s loud. Really loud.

  • Dude, I just got the EQD ‘Special Cranker,’ and it is so good. Right in the OD that can get fuzzy zone. The things are like $70 used. It has transformed the drive section of my pedalboard.

  • Pedals remind me of this old pedal I used to have, the In Line Effects Electric Tube XE-603. Amazing sound but they broke so easily, I went through three of them and I haven't seen one in decades now. I miss it. I have recently seen the Empress ZOIA pedal though and apparently its a make anything you want type of pedal. If I ever get one I'll let you know how it works out. But this pedal sounds like a great fuzz, reminds me of the 90s era fuzz where everything hit the heavier grunge tones.
