Bass in Black Metal is Underrated
Black Metal is all about nice and evil guitar riffs, but almost nobody talks about the bass. Let’s change that!

The bass at 1:30 just makes it stop sounding like Black Metal to me. I like the monotone sound of the 2nd example. Yes, it does sound way better. It's what makes BM meditative.
Bass is cool, its just bass players that are horrible
You need to check out Mercyful Fate.
just listen to ANY Iron maiden with no bass on youtube and youll hear how important a good bassplayer is
Jokes on you, i cant hear any difference because i’m listening to this on my shitty phone speakers!
Bassplayer have a IMPORTANT place in a band????????
Awesome video ????????
Bass is an underatted game changer in B.M.
Check out Rheehius' Omens for some fine bass in a B.M. track
"Make your base more interesting". This. I adore good bass players no matter what genre they are playing. And I'm not a bassist. ????
I know not particular bm.. Used to at least. But behemoth have some interesting bass notations. Tho in bm many solo projects don't even have a bass or maybe is done in a computer and is sad because is an intimitating instrument to tame when you start thinking outside the root note
That AC/DC video reveals the genius of that band. Its so simple, its brilliant. Cliff Williams just changes a few simple notes and it changes the whole feel of the song. The videos message is extremely useful for songcraft.
As bass player in the Band Novo Comeco i must say its true
Old Man's Child – Pagan prosperity, there is a good example for BM bassists.
I started learning bass recently and i think it should stay out of black metal
I am just now learning that ppl actually make fun of bass players. Remember. Distortion. Amps. Matter. I have a $30 portable chargeable amp that already sounds crushing af with my bass. I’m planning on buying some effects and pedals for it too. As much as I love the sound of a guitar, bass will always rule to me.
Do not ever disrespect the power of the bass guitar. No shit it’s going to sound boring without distortion and the right equipment. But once you crank that fuzz up to 1000% you won’t be able to put the bass down.
Love the spirit of the spirit of black metal but black metal is just a giant boring very bland run on sentence. Hardly any imagination.
i always think about Deathcrush from Mayhem when i'm thinking of a Bass in BM
mayhem and immortal have good bassists
Im jealous of that shirt. Where can I buy it while still supporting the band?
I usually tend to do way to much hidden melodies in my bass track. I only record bass when the song is already almost done. And then stuff gets complicated and I get lost. lol
listening through the laptop speakers and not noticing any difference
