Paul Davids brings back sonic magic from a literal nuclear reactor in the form of the Cornerstone Nucleo. Walrus Audio drops a looper with sliders that might require a license to operate. Harley Benton unleashes a radioactive sparkle monster. Lava Music unveils something that might be an amp or a spaceship. And D’Angelico celebrates the Grateful Dead with lightning bolt guitars that will absolutely divide opinions.

Oh, and there’s a raffle pedal from last week that’s still up for grabs… this time with the correct link (oops).

  • 500USD for a niche reverb pedal? Nope. Not happening. And they could have lowered the price by taking out the audio interface. Nobody, precisely nobody ever said they wanted their reverb pedal to also be an audio interface. All it's doing is making the pedal more expensive, and it's already expensive.

Now watch me reach for some free IR's…

  • You said he only goes by the name Paul Davids, then a few minutes later you say "my friend Paul". ????

Ah… that takes me right back to my boarding school days.

  • Hey this is Allen hinds. I helped my old student and friend demo the lava studio. And I wanted to add a comment or two. As I don’t see it as a replacement for a real studio, with hi end mics and preamps and such, I do believe it has a place Especially for those who are finding their way .. I told Louis that , to me, the graphics were a bit toy ish and the sound a bit “ hi fi “ but the concept is .. practical, and cool, and having everything in one box like that is handy,I think future versions will only get better. It does so so much. And if you don’t have a big apartment. Or all the gear to record ,it really is practical.. and fun and easy to understand.I personally like it as a blue tooth and the grooves and loops are pretty hip … but I get it , it is so packed full of everything it’s easy to shrug off. But I really think it has a place . and they are a great company with great people with only the best intentions .. I wish them all the success. Anything to get more folks creating is a big plus to me !

  • Thank you for another entertaining ~22 minutes, Andy! ???? You have a good sense to bring us some interesting news week by week… (spiced with your usual, likable humor). ????As a fan of D'Angelico guitars, and a satisfied owner of beauty Premier Gramercy acoustic guitar model, I must note, that these Grateful Dead edition guitars are not my "cup of tea" in terms of their design… But respect for them creating such rarities, as I'm sure, Grateful Dead fans around the world would really love these guitars. ????

Due this reason, for me the "Pick of the Week" would be the wonderful "Cornerstone Nucleo Paul Davids Signature Reverb" pedal.☺Just listening to the recently available demos of it, I must say, this is probably the beautiest and most "hi-fi-sounding" reverb I have ever heard… ????Of course it is pretty expensive, but a unique and premium item in its category, for sure… ????

  • Lava studio is a Spark 2, Hotone Pulze (that already has a small screen), Yamaha THR, Nux Mighty Space … with a screen … that all guitarists already have on their smartphone … concept is not good as it forces you to be near your amp that needs to be put at the right height … making no sense … false good idea …

  • I was like, ok this is a genuine go through with new equipment.. Then you praise the stand that the apple thing, and i go…. EEeeeh no… I mean, "it loook even better on the stand"?!?! Its a guitaramp for crying out loud!! Looks, should be the last thing on the mind! A la pubelle, or how its spelled.. It looks better on the stand, is really just like saying "oh, the company asked to sell the stand as well". Because WHY would ANY guitarrist buy a guitar stand for this, given all the competition, because it LOOKS even better!?

  • The Nucleo pedal looks awesome, can it load reverb IRs? Convolution Reverb is only capable in pedal form in the Poly Beebo, but it's crazy complex.

  • I recommend an IPad with Nembrini, THU, GE Labs, Biasfx or JamUp) whatever, MVave Chocolate, and any near field Stereo Monitors. You will probably sound better than that thing at a fraction of cost.

  • I’ve already have a system like this. My iPad & 120 watt monitors or my NUX Mighty Space amp usb c or aux in.

  • Thanks Andy, for this wig. It was a very strong episode.

I am, very much, looking forward for your dedicated/specific video reviews on the Walrus Looper pedal, as well as the Paul David's Reverb pedal.
They are looking like strong contenders, for my guitar rig/setup.
As for the D'Angelico guitars.. I want to say that I bought myself a Bob Weir Bedford model, a couple of months ago, and I love that guitar.

The Vola JZ Fro was the runner up, as I watched your review (and a couple of other ones, also) and I didn't specifically like its P90s tone.
If it wasn't for my G&Ls ..the Bedford would easily be my favourite guitar on my roster.
    Cheers from Portugal ????

  • That Lava iAmp doesn't excite me at all. Too many question marks?
How does this speaker compare to real studio monitors?
Can the DAW do everything Reaper can do?
Tone quality of the amp modeling?
    Future support and upgrades?
Can't even see what kind of ins/outs it has on the backside, if any?
Nah, I'll stick to my regular PC, Soundcard, studiomonitors and a Nano Cortex when away from home…

  • I would rather play a gig with dog shit on my shoes, than pay good money for a D'Angelico that looks like that.
    Though I love D'Angelico guitars.

  • Does that lava amp have a web browser? Because if it would let me scroll my chord sheets on Ultimate Guitar, I'd never need another piece of equipment.

  • Looks like Lava took inspiration from Bang & Olfson. Hopefully they don’t price it similarly. And as a huge Dead fan, I am disappointed in those tacky (yep) and unimaginative designs, especially if they are limited editions.

  • What happened to “it’s always Paul Davids”? “Help me out here, Paul“? “My friend Paul“? How DARE you show such irreverence?

  • If Paul David thinks I’m gonna pay $400 for a reverb pedal, he can bite the spare tire on my Toyota! Or the Chevy. ???? And yes, I think “Musical Tool” would be a good name for your next band. Because 1. You’re a bit of a tool, and
    2. You’re a bit musical
When you’re not hawking overpriced crap. ???? I’m only kidding…calm down. But seriously…
I applaud your effort to try and learn how to pronounce the word “Aluminum” properly. I was truly impressed. Keep practicing. And I keep expecting you to say “Prepare to get Gas-Lit”. I’m sorry. But you make it so easy. I always enjoy your videos. And if I’m not subscribed, I should be…And will be : )

  • That would be a sweet Harley super strat if it was black…but that way my first Harley won't happen in this life. Remind me, why did ALL companies started to do tasteless Ibanez style 80s candy colors?
