  • It won't hurt anything. If you turn it up all the way you risk blowing speakers with any sound going in to the amp.

  • Here’s the thing can I use pedals for my guitar on a bass amp? I’m still pretty new to guitar only got one because of pantera and I want to use pedals

  • I mean if youre driving the speakers too hard yes. But if you just make sure you're not sending too much output you'll probably be fine. I have a marshall 4×12 I've been using for years, first with a guitar amp and now as an extension cab for my fender rumble 200 and I've never had a problem.
If you don't believe me then look at Lemmy

  • I guess you are still young. It’s not the amp itself, as long as impedance are match. It’s the speakers people say that can’t handle it but even that’s rare especially in modern speakers.

  • In the consensus of using guitar amp as a bass amp aka with Bass then no you shouldn’t use a guitar amp. But using a guitar amp and cab with a eq pedal to drop the low end and boost the mids and up the gain then you turn that amp in to a monster overdrive distortion for your bass. Bi amping is safe, if done right. 5 years and going on our bass bi amp rig and the guitar amp and speakers are still going strong

  • I was gifted my amp from my dad who would play bass on it and he was gifted it from a bass player so idk if there are like 2 and 1 amps? Idk ive heard this before but almost everyone i talk to says that it’s almost harmless unless you are really cranking the tone idk i dont play that loud either so i think my amp will be fine its older than me and its fine lol

  • I pray everytime and try not to turn it too loud, the bass amp was expensive and I’m broke so play unplugged a lot ????

  • Mannn nothin sounds like a bass through a 4×12 Marshall, it can be "bad" for the amp or speakers but it's 1000% worth it to me. Also I could be wrong but a lot of OG rock/metal bassists used guitar amps to get distortion

  • Yeah i started as a bassist and then I expanded to guitar and because I had a bass amp already it was perfect cuz I didn't have to buy an extra amp

  • I think both Lemmy and Dusty Hill of ZZ top just played through marshall stacks, but they can handle the frequency better. I small amp might not be ideal.
