I'm curious about your signal chain order. Did you turn the amp's volume up to above halfway? Did you use a pedal-type overdrive in front of the delay? Or did you connect a delay pedal to the input and turn up the volume on the amp to create an overdrive through the amp? I recently learned of the characteristics of the ac30 that set it apart from other amplifiers. My amp is an ac30/6tbx Korg era, and I realized that even with this amp, connecting a delay to the input and turning the amp's volume all the way up to create overdrive didn't feel out of place. Usually, when using other amps, I connect the delay after the overdrive, and when I want to use the amp's gain, I use a delay pedal between the send and return, but with the ac30/6tbx, you can naturally connect the delay directly to the input without such procedures.
Don’t even need delay for Bloody Sunday, or even a lot of early U2 which was super raw.
