yes is the beast !
Nice reaction. There’s never a bad option regarding Yes. ????????
YES! ???? One of my favorites from early Yes! Thanks for reviewing!
I'm a hard core YES fan who almost never recommends songs from the YESSONGS Live album, because the sound quality is so poor (with that "concert hall sound") compared to their masterful studio productions. HOWEVER, there is one grand exception: the live YESSONGS version of The Fish. The best live bass solo I've ever heard. And it features Bill Bruford on the drums which stands out and is yet another bit of ear candy that you hear in the recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPC7NEW-1B8
So fantastic that someone is appreciating Yes again.
Love Yes music, but The Fish still gives me goosebumps decades later…..☮️????
If you ever react to Styx – Come Sail Away, make sure you do the longer version.
You’re welcome!! ????
So now, you have to hear the amazing live version from the Yessongs album. The bass solo on The Fish is phenomenal. But it MUST be this version.

Ty for reaction!
It can be a challenge for me to listen to this. It's my ringtone and I keep reaching for my phone.Glad you enjoyed it.
Awaken is a spiritual journey. One of my top 3 YES favorites. I don't know which vesion you want to do but this live version sounds just like the studio one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDXccU0xgNo
????????❤️????????
Please listen to the live versions of these tracks from the Yessongs live triple album, they infinitely better.
YES, the greatest show on earth. With each listen, your IQ will expand
✨️????????????✨️
That is SO good!
Nice reaction. Good on ya for noticing Jon's northern burr that cuts though, especially on these earlier Yes records. "The Fish" was one of the solo tracks on this album, featuring Chris Squire's multi-tracked bass. In many ways it's a parallel to Jon's "We Have Heaven" on side 1, with Jon's multi-tracked vocal lines. It just goes to show how much Jon and Chris were on the same page back in the day. And if there's any way to talk you out of jumping ahead to "Awaken" before tackling these earlier albums. I think you'll benefit from hearing where something like "Awaken" came from once you've heard these earlier stabs at epic-length songs.
What happened to my INXS Elegantly wasted reaction ? Why did it dissappear?
When you try awaken…. Do the entire alnum in Order. If you listen that way you will not only hear the best yes album of all but you will see when you listen to awaken how it is influenced by the other 4 tracks. Awaken is a grown up version of close to the edge in terms of style and technical detail. Consider this was all done on analogue systems. Multitrack tapes.
Happy to help
Don't forget what I said about one ear then the other. You can with a Yes track miss details otherwise.
Not forgetting We Have Heaven part 1 and 2. There is an extended version on YouTube
Tyty just throw money ????????????
Love it! ❤
REWIND LOL! !!! Actually, the previous percussion-syncopated song by drummer Bill Bruford, 'Five Percent to Nothing' along with 'Long Distance' & 'Fish' are the 3 shortest songs by YES, a total of only 6:50 INCREDIBLE mins that can blow your mind. Lyrically on Fish I love the chant (Schindleria Praematurus) which is the scientific name.
BTW, I have a pet peeve against popular request because the generic masses will always forsake fantastic songs for the thing that's most 'pop'ular. It's the same reason why the entire genre was overlooked by most during the 1970's. AWAKEN is considered their ultimate masterpiece by many but from 72-77, YES created other Fantastic Works of Art, not only 'Close to the Edge', but also 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' & 'Relayer' albums which I call the "YES TRINITY" but they are often 'sadly' overlooked by Reactors who only "follow the crowd" when choosing songs. Just saying… Don't miss out due to herd mentality, there are diamonds beyond the flock
I'm glad you played the other version. As many times as I've listened to this combination of songs, I've never heard that version of The Fish. Loved it! And this version just travels right through you.????
YES❣️❣️❣️ R.I.P. Chris and Alan. My brothers you are both SO missed❗️❗️❗️
????????????????????????????????
The Fish is Chris Squire's track and has 7 different bass lines on that Rickenbacker. This was a real good album for him. And prog rock bands are unique. Yes, Genesis Jethro Tull and Rush can not be mistaken for each other, But they still have common elements. British pastoral and folk/bard, classical influences and modern electrical articulation. Jazz and funk show up too, but reworked
Great reaction, Kelly! Would love to see you react to more live footage of YES. It is so amazing how Howe & Wakeman were always on opposite sides of the stage, and played that tightly together in unison, harmony and call & response. Truly they must be telepathic!
YES. Band…band…ever. THANKS for the reaction!!!
I remember watching your first take but don’t remember the version. I think you only listened to the first half of the song.
There’s a killer live version off a 1972 or 1973 album called Yessongs that features a great bass jam from Chris Squire. Check that out sometime, it gets downright nasty
