Just an information, Squier also have the Silver Series bass that made in Japan ????????
Love the comparisons. Thanks guys! Sound wise I prefer the Player II. However, in my experience. Feel wise, Classic Vibe is really up there.
The black starburst paint edging is a tough sell for me. The basses themselves, however aren't ????????
The classic vibe squier jazz I like best it had more character on the jazz side . The fender 2 precision is the smoothest and the best for that category
What is the red hollowbody in the top right corner called?
I have both squier and player series precision basses the player series blows the squier out the water rem you get what you pay for ie in build and pick ups
For me, Fender doesn’t start being a Fender until the Player 2. The standard is the same as a Squier. It would require modifying it to specs.
How can you name Standard a Fender bass made in Indonesia?
The Affinity series has the full size pots. Wonder why the more expensive CV series have the small pots ????????
The jazz standard sounded best.
Standard P and J were by far the goats. I'd fly with a squire no prob though.
no souund
Soy Cicifan
It seems you should have included Squier Affinity Series… They have the ceramic pickups at a orice even lower than CV.. I think Affinity is the winner for P Bass especially… just sayin’
Got the Mod Version, feels very comfortable. Hi-MAS Bridge. Active/Passive. Yep best bang for the buck is the Players Series.
Yo she gotta go. The older guy and lee hit grooves that sound awesome. This is just ok????
I'm sad you guys didn't add Squier Classic Vibe 70s series to the comparison as well.
Anybody know what the chili peppers song she was playing is? It’s so familiar but I can’t remember.
I'm done with Fender. I like the Precision Bass but I've checked out a few basses at the music store. If you don't spend 2,000 bugs ore more on a fender, you always have to expect quality defects or bad hardware. Often, they're made of inferior wood or have bad neck joints, and even when dry, they sound completely dull. Two years ago, I bought a new Sandberg for €1,400, which puts all Fender Pro II to shame.
Sorry but you need to know how to play a bass with such a distortion… I'm afraid the girl really doesn't know ????
I love the ceramic pickups in the standard
What about the new Squier lineup for 2025 ?
There has been no news since the introduction of this « new standard » serie from Fender…
This should have been a 15 min video. Too much blabbing.
It's a squire with a fender name ????
I'd like to see the do this blind folded. I bet if Lee didn't know what the headstock said hed choose the squire based on the face he made playing it vs the others.
Surely the Ps were being played with some overdrive/distortion or am I going mad?
Using effects in a tone demo/review of anything really waters down the quality of the demo imo. Even bad basses (these aren’t) can be made to sound half decent when using effects. It’s really only the clean tone which matters for a bass review
But again maybe I’m going mad and that was clean P playing?
All 3 bass brands are nice. The Player II has the cleaner sound, but the tradeoff is the pups are more subdued.
Cici, so a like before the vid started!
Wow, I like the texture of Cici's playing near the end. Lee you awesome! I will have to check out Cici's playing more.
I just bought a vintners and got to try all the pbass lines at gc idk why but the standard pbass sounded the best to me
The quality of instrument the overseas factories are turning out these days is very high.
8:41 that Mellowship riff is so recognizable. Love it.
Thanks one & all for a great bass review ! Really like the format of the three of you together & also the back to back comparisons, especially necessary with the Jazz on all pickup variations. ❤
I‘d like to hear a version of this Video just with the room mic. Like you would hear yourself on a typical quick rehearsal room recording. That would be interesting.
Classic Vibe is where it's at.
Squid Ink Pasta Logo
yeah theyre nuts. the player 2s sound way fuller and cleaner.
If I hadn’t become a G&L convert, I’d be in on one of the Player 2 basses.
I remember back in 2020 when these videos would get like 200k views in a day. I can’t believe that was 5 years ago
Not sure if it the same as the Indonesian Standard guitars and Bass but I have seen a few other reviews where they have looked at the electronics in the guitars. The guitars (Strat and Tele) had the same small dime sized pots and selector switch that is in the Squier. This is the first bass review I have seen so they may be differnt, but I am guessing Squiere electronics in them as well. Hence why they are being called Fender by Squier. My thaught is that the CV series from Squier is much better that the Standard on the guitar side. The alnico pickups sound as it is fuller(?) and open where the ceramic sound like they are cut off on both the high and low ends. But hey, to each their own and buy what works for you. I have both Fender and Squier bass and guitar and each has it's place and were it is used due to the different tonal ranges.
I recently shot out the broadest range of jazzes I could get my hands on for funsies at a local shop…Affinity Active Jazz was the by far best I laid hands on, and the only one I'd have considered purchasing…The rest had more noticeable QC issues (incl. the MIA ones)
The ceramic pickups in the Standard Precision sound harsh and kinda undefined.
Both the Squire and the Player 2 sound much better.
The Standard Precision sounds cheap .
The ceramic pickup sounds better in the Jazz.
The fender II is the best bang for the money if you can afford it. It is clean precise, and has better tone.
You missed a trick here, they should been playing "Big Bottom" on the intro.
Personally I have a Player II Precision with the Fender Custom shop 62' pickup added and it's my absolute favourite bass for playability and tone.
So amazing to find cracking bass goodness at these price points ! Well done as always – cheers!
