Luv the px-1 I dont want deep dive menus. I want 2, 3, 4 knobs max. Line6 hx1 has alot of that.
I think the pedal as it stands isn't really the main issue people have, its that a big player in the industry is potentially trying to move towards a subscription model for digital effects. Which in the beginning seems fine "its only $9.95 per month" or whatever, but if then all other brands move in that direction that $9.95 can quickly become a lot more, and the prices will only increase. I'm not a fan of having more subscriptions personally but I can understand why Boss is trying to do it. It will be interesting to see if it succeeds or not.
If you spent big money on an all analog pedal board setup, doesn't having this pedal on completely eliminate the whole analog signal?
I agree. The latency first. The lack of headroom too can annoy me.
Nothing against this pedal. It just made me research and discover the HX1 pedal that would do even more for me.
Great subject! I’m an old school analog kind of guy, but more and more things are going software based. Avid makes pro tools and all their plugins available only by subscription. Don’t start me on latency issues lol
I’ll be honest, while my rig is 100% analog. I don’t care what boss comes out with, this digital micro transaction stuff doesn’t bother me one bit, because as far as I’m concerned so long as I can buy analog gear, I’m not complaining. It’s not like they’re discontinuing everything else they’re just branching out.
because it sucks
I don't care one bit what others spend their money on but you undercut your argument w/ the HX One. Things like the HX One giving you far more, with free upgrades, IS why the value of the Boss pedal doesn't make sense. There is nothing innovative about Boss putting their name on a pedal and charging for upgrades that others give you for free. It's totally fine for them to do it, but it's silly to call it innovation. It's not at all.
So nice of someone to be brave enough to post this. I didn't hear complaints on the plugins for $9.99 that you could use in Logic and Pro Tools. This device makes sense in that, if you purchase any of those (future), you will be able to use them live with your rig. Likely a lot of processing power that, with future upgrades, may do a lot more. I also don't believe this thing is breaking the bank at that price point.
Boss chose a tough market space, but it will work for the people who love Boss pedals. It's possible that a great number of Boss people have never heard of the HX1. Sexy Tele Too!!!
