In Episode 90 of The Week in Gear we’ve got the Blackstar BEAM Solo, a headphone amp that tries to be a whole studio. StewMac have finally done the sensible thing and released their pedals as pre-built units, so you can leave the soldering iron in the drawer. Behringer are raiding the bucket brigade cupboard again with the BM-14M Analog Delay. PRS have mashed up two of their lines and given us the S2 Mira 594, demoed by Donna Grantis. And my Pick of the Week? Vander Guitars’ Guitar-O-Matic, a Strat and Tele mod that sneaks effects into your guitar itself.

Love the idea of the VDG thing. Changing the jack socket is genius. The 9V battery goes under the pickguard on a Strat, which might be problematic. I guess the effects have very low current draw, though, so it'd probably last until the next string change…?

The Pattern Thin Profile is the Best. It´s a shame that they only make the Wide Thin Profile on the SE Range.

You DO get the core pickups. They changed that this year
the 594 mira with the satin / woodgrain finish looks so dope!
I don't understand the hate for the plugout FX 1 its not even out yet and 2 if boss continues to support it for 4-6 years with more and more effects it could be a great product.
The Behringer BM-14M could be a great option, but I will not know until they publish proper documentation which can be accessed.
That PRS S2 Mira 594 would be fully for me if it had a 42mm nut. EDIT: And the black rainbow holoflake finish matches one of my partsocasters!

i don't get it, is TWIG is kind of guitar? Yep we've been waiting for a "thin neck 594" forever, please make an SE version.
May i suggest a bit of rock wool for acoustic treatment, it’s appropriately named for this use purpose. Also lining the room with sandbags floor to ceiling while extensive it’s quite affective.
Ps you can schedule several beach play days with the kids ????️ , make a game of it who can fill the most sandbags, extra ice cream after the boot is filled with sandbags. Be sure to check your vehicles maximum cargo capacity.
I do love that the black rainbow holoflake is now a standard color way, rather than a much desired custom paint job. Hopefully we can have a Paul's Guitar SE with that finish? (fingers crossed)

Ibanez's look like I'd expect anything from Japan to look.
New Mira looks like it wants to be an SG. But, although my SE 594 plays ‘easier’ than my Les Paul Standard, I never play the PRS. It just doesn’t have any character/vibe. The Mira may be a fantastic guitar, but I’d rather have a Gibson…. Oh, yeah, for the Brits who always pronounce Maryland as “Mary Land,” it’s more like saying “Marilyn” but with a D at the end. Unless you live there, and the local accent has it as “MURR-lin.” But, don’t do that.
PRS copied the LP, the Strat, Tele… So the DC was due. Next steop, the SG and Flying V. Then Paul will go on a youtube tour to convince you that it sounds good.
Does anyone else want to see more PRS models with scratch plates/pick guards? I kind of feel like they look a bit too sterile without them. I’d LOVE to see a McCarty 594 double cut with PRS’ take on a pick guard. It would be cool to see these new Mira 594 models with solid colors (not every PRS needs a crazy flame top) and a pick guard as well. The Robins Egg Blue models that they came out with a few years ago were pretty amazing. Sign me up if they ever make another one.

And, just a quick question, just where do you slot in a 9v battery in a Tele? Routing out a space for a 9v battery is hardly reversible!
