8/23/25. Saturday. 6 hours after you posted… You always mention the pentatonic scale, but you do the same as every other guitar teacher I observe, and DON’T MENTION THE MAJOR SCALE PATTERN!!!!! The MAJOR SCALE is how you write great melodies in America! The pentatonic scale is a 5 note scale that is a subset of a Major scale. You said, frets “2 3 5 7 8 10” which lets me know that all you’re doing is running up and down a MAJOR SCALE pattern with the root note on fret 3. But don’t mention that. Just have your students memorizing frets. Make learning harder for everybody.
Hey Ryan, absolutely love your videos, you have taught me so much the last couple months since I got my first guitar. I love Pearl Jam’s version of immortality at the orpheum theater on 4.12.94 If you could do a tutorial on that version and maybe even the solo that would awesome. Keep up with the great content.
