The best picks for acoustic tone for me have been the Rabea Massaad Hard Picks, they offer a slightly unique tone that is hard for me to describe, but I really like the way they sound with acoustic guitar.

I use a a 2mm Dunlop Gator Grip on my acoustic. It has a solid tone with a quick release. Any thinner, and I get that "clacky" sound when hitting strings.
I liked all of them except the thinnest ones that make sharp clicking noises. But I'd be able to hear pick differences more on strumming chords.

I only use a felt pick. They remove that plasticky scratching sound when strumming and it sounds more natural. Like finger picking.
