This is One of the Late 90’s Greatest Delay Pedals! Danelectro Dan-Echo!

The Danelectro Dan-Echo isn’t just a nostalgic throwback! While I moved on to “better” pedals over the years, it was my first pedal and I used it for years from Memphis to Texas and everywhere in-between. Recently one came up for sale cheap locally and I figured why not buy one for ol’ time sake. Turns out, they are a still great sounding, a great value on the used market and they hold up against just about anything else today if you are looking for classic delay sounds.

I’ll do a quick demo of slapback, longer delay times and then a faux reverb sound, and we’ll look at the hi-cut knob which sets this pedal apart from a lot of other similar pedals from the time. Whether you’re into rockabilly, country, blues, or classic rock, this pedal still deserves a look!

Let me know in the comments your thoughts on the Dan-Echo? Also what are some of your first pedals that still hold up today?

Thanks to everyone who has liked, subscribed or commented on my videos. I really appreciate it. Let’s keep this all going!!

  • Great vid with interesting settings. Also my first and only delay! I used it together with the danelectro daddy’o overdrive to sound a bit like East Bay Ray ofthe Dead Kennedys for the punk band I was in at the time. Still my favorite combination and indeed build like a tank! It survived many punk/hardcore shows ????

  • I just went into my "tickle trunk" and dug out my Dan-Echo, my first pedal was a Wah/Distortion Morley… but this was my first delay. I was already big into Brian Setzer Orchestra (a few years before the GAP ad), so yeah… this can definetely do slap-back. These days, I do very little analogue… I'm very into amp sims and plugin effects. Take care, rock on. ????????
