  • Would be interested in seeing (hearing, really) direct comparison between Larrivee and Furch models of comparable construction.

  • Good stuff! I have an L-05 and it sounds huge and beautiful. I also have an OM-03r and an OM-60r and both are phenomenal. Larrivee just makes fantastic guitars. I think they are equal to my Martin D-18 and D-35 in terms of quality, sound, and playability, but are more affordable. Glad you guys are carrying them!

  • I picked up my first Larrivee about a week ago. It’s a custom 00-03 with a flamed sinker redwood top. It’s stunning to look at and a delight to play. Now I’ve got my eye on a L-03 all mahogany I was considering a Martin 000-17 all mahogany but from the videos I’ve seen I think I like the Larrivee better.

  • A year ago I bought a Zager guitar their Flagship model it cost me about $2,000 what a well-made guitar..a surprising find… so far I've had it at three different luthiers and they all have said that guitar is worth at least $4,000… I'm glad to see Larrivee is doing it too. Amazing how some companies can give you so much at a fair price, yet others charge so much more… why there's such a vast disparage between brands, I just don't know. I can't help but feel somebody is robbing somebody

  • Thanks for the review. Since you asked for feedback, I would suggest playing the same thing on both guitars so the viewer can make a better comparison of the body styles. Not everyone just strums on a dread, and not everyone plays only finger-style on everything else, etc. I for one really wanted to hear that L-model being strummed to see how it compared to the dread. Both beautiful guitars! Big fan of Larrivee here.

  • Hard pass. Love the channel and your content, but Larrivee is nearly at the bottom of my list of desirables. To each their own, but there is nothing inspirational coming out of their factory. A pair of brown shoes at a black tie event. Shop around. There are many guitar brands out there that play as well, sound better, and by far have finishes you actually want to look at in this price range. Never heard an inspirational Taylor either, but at least there is a little flavor in the finishes. At the very least you can enjoy looking at it.

  • I recently got my first Larrivee after 20 years of playing guitars by the American big three. Larrivee is better built, has louder projection and more dynamic/wider sound profile. Please do yourself a favour and try them side by side with the other makers in the guitar store. Sound is subjective, but I'm confident most players would choose Larrivee over the others. (I have no experience with Furch so I can't speak to that).

  • Very, very under rated guitars. Also true of Santa Cruz and Bourgeois. Not cheap, but compared to Martins, Gibsons, and Taylors, well worth looking into.

  • The thing about where a guitar is made is more political than musical. If a luthier has proper standards it is doubtful that a Mexican would be less skilled than an American (or Canadian) guitar tech. Use of foreign factories is an economic consideration that allows a manufacturer to provide more in their instruments than might be offered on U.S. built instruments at the same price point. I prefer buying American because I am an American but one need not be fanatical about the matter. My D-03R is Canadian built and a remarkable guitar and I won't apologize for indulging in buying what I want.

  • About damn time. I own an LV-03r Moon Spruce and a D-40 Bluegrass and have owned several others. Nothing quite like a Larrivee.

  • Love my OM-03R. The satin finish is very nice. I ended up later buying a D-09 with the 1 11/16 neck width I prefer.

  • Thank you for a very good, and unbiased, review. I have to admit to being fairly opinionated about Larrivée guitars. I have owned at least 40 guitars over the years. My Martins and Taylors have gone, but I now own 8 Larrivées – L-01, L-05, OM-03 12th fret silver oak special, OM-19, OM-40, D-03, D-40, and D-60. When I first learnt about them, some 20 years ago, I could buy one for about £450-600 (second hand/pre-loved). Now I am looking at in the region of £1,000-1,500. Nevertheless they are all stunning instruments, and I won't be parting with any of them in the foreseeable future. But when I pass away, please don't let my wife sell them for the prices that I told her I paid.

  • I have had several of these guitars
    Mostly in the D series
I really appreciate the quality and of course, the fantastic sound and tone that come out of these wonderful Guitar
The reason I have sold these in the past is that my small hands don’t fit on that kind of weird D shape on the neck
I’ve tried to get used to it
But when I play a Martin or a guild, it just feels better
I would like to try the fast neck, but have yet to find one
    Thanks for the review
    Larrivee makes wonderful guitars

  • I miss my Larrivee OM-05. It's one I shouldn't have sold. It was perhaps a little bit over-braced, but at least you know they are not overly delicate.
