I bought a secondhand 0015m about 3years ago and absolutely love it. Holds its own against my more expensive guitars in every way. Beautiful tone, great playability. I use Martin's retro strings on it, and they just seem so right.
The Chinese made guitars are running rings around these
I just bought the 00-15M in Telluride. It’s arrives today!
How is the finish holding up? Any gloss spots?
I had a 2012 000-15M and agree. It was my all time favourite. When I was really playing a lot and doing some pub / cafe style gigs in the area where I live I had this guitar, a Taylor 814CE, and a Martin HD-28. Once I stopped performing I fairly quickly sold the Taylor. Later, I was only playing at home for myself, and had a niece who was starting to learn guitar and coming quite quickly along, so I decided to give her one of my remaining two guitars. As I also really like my HD-28, I left the choice up to her. I think she chose the 000-15M because the HD-28 seemed to her to have more bling. I think she made the best choice considering her size, and the weight of the guitar. Sound-wise, they were both terrific guitars. Privately, however, I hated to see it go. — Anyone who thinks an 000-15M is only suitable around a campfire should listen to Peter Mulvey's Better Way To Go (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qolD6Y4V-uk).
got mine back in 2018 its my fav gtr out of the 6 acoustics i have beats my d35hd 2 yammys epiphone and takamine
My 00015 SM took two full years to break in… I thought it would never happen and one day, magically it was awesome.
Does this have the fretboard fall away? Where you sight the neck, there is an illusion of a hump about 14 frets in?
I have a 2008 000-15 (non m version) and it still crushes all of my other guitars.
Fantastic guitar. Sound is phenomenal, I love mine. I've written a lot of songs with it, great articulation and warm tone. Very resonant and light.
I have one. I installed the K&K pure Mini pickup system in it. no preamp. phenomenal tone direct thru my PA or Henriksen Bud….and the guitar has this wonderful mild/mellow tone that is never harsh or boomy….I did lower the factory action just a tad…and is definitely my favorite acoustic guitar of all time and I have owned other Martins and Taylors. I think many acoustic guitars have a cutting top end which to me takes away from mellow tones I am looking for. but in no way is this guitar bland. just right
This versus Harley Benton cla15m?
I was eyeing a 00018 for a while. Went to a store and played it and was really underwhelemed. Maybe bad strings or just a weak sounding one, i dont know.
Saw a video about the 00016 streetmaster and fell for the optics, but didnt care for the sound too much.
Learned there was a 00015 streetmaster as well, bought one and really enjoy it.
Did not enjoy an acoustic guitar this much ever, i think.
Had a hd 35 for a while, tried a j45 as well but not for me.
Just one thing is that it is so light, it feels a little unreal to me. But i guess i can get used to that ????
Was looking for a 15M ended up finding a 15SM absolutely love it sounds and plays like nothing else
I also like the 00-15m…..probably more so
I feel stock strings are not great. Use daddario XS lights and they bring out the tone.
I bought a 000-15m Streetmaster because it was $995 used. I wasn’t shopping it but thought it may sound with some new strings on it. If I had to sell all my guitars and keep one, this is it. Absolutely shocking how good it sounds. Does everything great. I was buying a 000-28 and backed out because the 15 is so perfect.
I have the D15M. I love it but am considering the 000 just for size and ease of playing.
I have a 000-15e picked up from guitar center and I feel so lucky. Although it’s made in Mexico I feel it matches your description so well of what makes the 000-15m great. Def recommend to anyone looking for a lower price point but wanting a solid wood body.
It's a great, classic Martin model. In the newer versions, they dropped the butterbean tuners and went with round ebony tuning heads.
What strings do you use on your 00015m?
For a 60 year old with occasional sore hands, but not really arthritis, and with sausage fingers, would the 000-15SM be more suitable? I do have small but strong hands. I find that with my Martin GPC-16E, my fingers occasionally hit other strings when fingerstyle playing.
Getting one in a few days!
I had a 00-15M for about 15 years and loved it, but it was stolen. I eventually replaced it with an Eastman that has a 1 13/16 inch nut width (the 00-15M as well as the 000-15M have a 1 11/16 inch nut width). I prefer the wider nut width, so I doubt I would be satisfied going back to narrower. But otherwise, it is a beautiful looking and sounding choice for the money.
I am buying this one as soon as I can.
I have had this model for about four years now and it is definitely my favorite… I have several other Martins and they are all good but 5his is the one. Get one you won’t regret it.
I’ve had one for about two years. Adore it. Had a pro setup done; plays like buddah. Sometimes I consider trading it for something brighter (spruce top) but naaaah.
Custom inlay in leitchfield, ky
Yup. OOO-15M I feel same as you. Marvelous guitar. Use Monels but do you suggest other strings?
You forgot to mention that you turned down half a step for this recording. That makes a big difference in the sound and the playability of a guitar.
I just bought one. Sounds great but hopefully a setup will help the playability.
My Taylor guitars have been fine right out of the box. I heard somewhere that Martin guitars come with higher action?
I've owned a 000-15m for about 5 years. My favorite of all the guitars I have owned. I bought mine with no electronics. Just a wonderful instrument all around. Lightweight and crystal clear. Easy to play and simplest on the fingers. Nothing fancy, just a great guitar. I can use my old pick up which has always been perfect, or, just use a mic, either way, she sings like an expensive Martin.
I took a tour of Martins shop a few years ago…these are everything, hand built…and that's no BS…Martin guitars…USA..ARE built by hand! Best sound over any other acoustic guitar….
Been playing since 1964…I love this guitar. I bought the 000-15M due to the size, looks and sound. (And the price!)
What kind of strings are used in this video?
Great video. Fun to listen to. ????
One of my dream guitars. I have a Sigma replica with a cutaway, and I love it so much… can't imgine how the real thing could be. I love other Martin models like the 00028 or the D28/41, but this one has a special place in my heart. I hope I can get one of these someday, they are not easy to find used at a fair price where I live, and when I find them outside the shipping costs are too much.
I have the d 15 m i5 it's a great guitar
What strings where you using in the video phosphor bronze or 80/20?
I’ve been playing martins for 40 years.. this is my favorite. I’ve had one for about 15 years. It’s the perfect songwriter guitar… helped my songs get on over 20 million records.
Informative video! Is this an appropriate guitar for a first guitar? Love the look and sound, unsure about the 25.5 scale length, if it’s okay for beginners.
Just purchased one from a private party, it’s about 5 years old? I love it and it has been played
Hi Jack! Great review. What type of strings do you have on it?
I’ve had one for about 1 1/2 years. Love it to pieces.
I love my 0015M.
I've played for 2 years. Have d28 .I always go back tooo15. My best sound comes from elixir strings. I believe ooo is all mahogany.
I have the 000 15sm and absolutely love it !!!! Only difference is the SM is a "12 fret" with. a slotted headstock.
You cannot beat a mahogany Martin guitar… and the 000 15 series is the best
????
Sounds good, but the way it looks is terrible
I have OOO 10e. Love it. As for me, there's almost no difference in sound between ooo 15 and ooo 10). Well, it's just my opinion. Simply when I was buying my OOO 10e, no OOO 15 was available ???? And that's why I'm about to buy OOO 16 Streetmaster now. To get different tones from 2 same shaped guitars).
