Locking tuners are also a plus.
Great video!!! Thank you! -p.s. I can't believe that you don't play a Thomann 335. I Love mine …it plays & rings like a $5000 guitar!!
Thank you so much!
Why the Hell can't they make the pin a bit longer with an upward bend so the string doesn't keep sliding off?
thk u! no bigsby use?? thk u !!
i put 12s on and its kind of a pain
Pull the string spool pins.
Drill the holes all the way through the shaft.
Grind or file a smooth curve where the stings exit.
Be at peace forevermore.
Seems a hole through the shaft to feed the string through (front to back, then over) would make it easier than those pins.
I have to laugh. I just did my first Bigsby string change. I thought my God, this was horrible! Did I do something wrong? The string barrels kept slipping off the pins. It took me 2 hours to get it right. Then I thought I have to google this to see if anybody else has complaints. Then I found you! ???? Yup, all is normal. I am not very fond of this Bigsby, but it sure looks cool. Best tremolo is the G&L duel fulcrum tremolo. Bigsby is slightly out dated.
FINALLY A USE FOR MY CAPO. Got my first bigsby guitar after years of only strat and FR styles. It was an absolute breath of fresh air even changing the strings is easier, and i can tune to whatever i want whenever and maintain stability by simply depressing and pulling the bar and retuning several times..
Sneaky Bad Horsie riff!
Chris, thanks for the input. You are one of the classiest guys in the business. Keep up the good work and continue to ROCK!!
Jesus… been changing strings on guitars for decades and I never thought about using a capo to temporary keep the string in place while you wind the tuners (to pull the new string tight/taut). Love it.
New to Bigsbys,am a Strat trem. guy,nice,straight to the point,how-to.What about locking tuners,have these on a 335 w/Bigsby,any string twisting,start over,take up slack,lock lightly,carry on,think this trem.had too many negative comments,it is fun,not a contraption
I WAS GOING CRAZY โฆ everyone said thread it through the holes im thinking what holes??? Youโre the only one gave an explanation
But this IS A PAIN IN THE AZZ. THANKS for the help!
Thanks very much for putting this together and making it so concise. You pointed out at least two critical things I was doing wrong.
I strung a guitar with a Bigsby for someone years ago. Forgot what a horrible awkward job it was. Just bought a guitar with a Bigsby & found your video after repeatedly having the 1st string I attempted to put on constantly pinging off. The capo tip did the trick. Thank you so much. I will sleep more peacefully tonight. BTW. Nice lick.
Oh god THANK YOU for making this video. I was trying to mine and the end kept coming off the post. I felt like I was going to throw my guitar across the room. After I watched this I got some pliers, pinched the ring at the end, and then bent the string around them. Worked perfectly. And the capo was an enormous help.
My bigsby keeps popping up undoing all of the strings, does anyone have any advice?
your that lovely kind of weirdo, that the world should be grateful for . I am grateful that you thought me so much, saving me much โฌ, a pro setup here costs like 100โฌ without new strings, thx to you , lovely weirdo, i can do that sh*t myself now, just equipped my Gretsch with a tune o matic roller bridge and locking machine heads taking a break now between strings
Thank you very much! very fun and helpful video. Some people forgot how much a smile can improve everything ????
THANK YOU! I got the low E string on with way too much effort before looking this up. I see how this will simplify my life. There will be much less colorful language while I finish changing my strings.
The key to his tech tips I using the capo to hold the string in place–it's like having a third hand! Thanks!
THANKS..!!! Iโm getting ready to restring my new (used) baritone Gretsch with Bigsbyโฆ and your tips are definitely gonna save me some aggravation..!????????
That was very helpful!????
no one show you how to do the first three strings! those are the hardest!
Slow down
Good video. I was just waiting at the end, for you to hammer the gigs by a little, didnโt happen. But overall you confirmed how to do this
very helpful many thanks!
I have been using the capo method for years and it works well.
Yo that capo trick. I've never heard of that. That's sick.
I donโt have a bigsby loaded guitar but changing strings looks bad
Same with mandolin, your control is the loop end
Very helpfull
that capo trick made the world of difference!
i have the b5 bigsby i am stringing my guitar like your directions say but when i apply any tension it throws the bigsby arm back twoards the back of the guitar what am i doing wrong ?
thanks
Awesome. Thanks
Bending the end with the ball end, that was the trick I needed, thank you! You are quite worth of the name Thomann and the shirt, my family in The States spell it with one end. You have a job for a guitar phanatic who helped build Amazon's transportation network, and is also your cousin somehow?
Takes it for a test ride, doesn't touch the Bigsby! ๐
Dude I need serious help. I cut the strings then change a few strings and I see that the strings arent touching the saddles anymore like even if I put the strings on the neck they still dont sit on the saddle??? like wtf happened??? then strings are way high now, how come?? omg. did the bigsby go up 1/4 inch when I cut the strings? is that possible lol it seems all solid so?? I'm at a lost. will bring it to the luthier. I hate this thing omg.
I have a bigsby on my Gretsch, that bend is key!
Awesome. Great video
I wasn't expecting Bad Horsie riff…amazing!
Btw: now I won't bother having a Bigsby equipped guitar.
Excellent video.
Hi, I have bigsby-looksalike Ibanez Artcore ASF75 (bigsby with only one round bar – the one with pins to attach strings) with bridge non attached to a body (like in violins). If I change strings one by one, it is OK, but if I want to clean it more thoroughly and change all the string at once, it is a really pain in a posterior to set things back. Is there any quick trick for reposition bridge in such a cases? I'd like to keep my guitar clean, bu I'm terrified of what that requires of me afterwards… I have tried using masking tape to mark bridge position, bot in don't work well…
I was expecting him to shred on that Gibson ๐
Dude, you were right! Amazing tone!!! ????????????
