Lava Studio Review: The Amp of the Future!

Welcome to my full review of the Lava Studio The Amp of the Future —Lava Music’s brand-new, all‑in‑one desktop amp that’s rewriting the rulebook for what an amp can do!

In this video, I dive into everything—from touchscreen-enabled amp modeling and FX chains to built-in lessons, jam tracks, loops, and even its hi-fi speaker system. You’ll see how it stacks up for practice, amp modeling, songwriting, recording, and everyday use.

Why This Matters?
It condenses bulky amp rigs, pedals, speakers, and lesson tools into one creative ecosystem—making practice and creativity fluid and cable-free!

  • Dirty sounds in your video sound pretty dam good. Generally I use a dirty for rhythm. A dirty for leads (curious if can boost solos) and of course a glassy clean channel. Ya I love a medium crunch/bluesy tone too but can pretty much get that with dirty ch and back off the volume knob on guitar to a suitable point. So dirty rythyms and solos and a glassy clean and I'm usually good. And if course capabilities to switch and add a or shut off certain effects at various times. Of course. But this leads back to my main question. How suitable for actually playing with a band at band volumes.

    Thank you

(I guess I lied… More questions forgive me)

  • One last question…. How many effects or blocks are allowed in signal chain. I saw 3 pre and 3 post. As well as Amp and cab. Is that the limit or that type of chain or preset you selected. Just curious. Most digital Modelors allow for more than that so again, had to ask.

  • Cool product, but it seems like it could easily become a paperweight from a spilled beer or dog that knocks over the stand. What happens if you damage the touch screen? For me, I use the Spark Amp with an Android tablet and the battery MOD for portability. If someone made an adapter that let me mount my tablet on top of my Spark, I would buy it for sure.

  • What is the monthly cost for all the services provided? I would assume that is not free.

  • Would this be a good tool to use for learning? With the masterclass available with the deposit/kickstarter i think this might help

  • One thing that almost snuck right by me, there's a 5min recording limit for the mini-daw? Great demo btw! Can't wait to get this and start recording with it.

  • All multi-effect units from 10 years ago let you use foot switches to turn things off and on. They even introduced multi-event switching so two or more things can change. Then we had snap shots. Now we get a touch screen and we have gone backwards. No one seems to point out that this omission. The power of shilling.

  • As a designer, i would strongly recommend to Lava that they flip the screen to where the hinges are on the back and it opens up from the from to the back like a laptop and put the screen on the bottom to protect it. I think that it could easily get hit or broken if something feel on it or the bag its in gets hit or crushed.

Very interesting concept. Looks like its basically a giant mac Mini with a built in screen and a speaker.

  • Hey there, you were one of the few who explored the loop feature this carefully; however could you Music for Miles please tell me whether each individual loop tracks can then be exported? or transferred over to the mini daw as seperate tracks? Nobody explores this in these videos and I'd love to know please. Thank you in advance!

  • Very impressive! The amp models are outstanding, like a high quality profile. All the functions are great, and the built in “iPad” is a huge plus point. Would be a decent personal live monitor, enabling editing on the fly. The only downside, to me, is the built in DAW, which is rather limiting.

    Nice review!

  • My biggest negative about this thing is the future plans for the company. The future potential for transactions, bundles, monthly subscriptions. I would rather have a regular amp because of that or a plugin i love. This just looks like a product where all the best thinks will be behind like a $30 per month package.
