I'm guessing some tracks were shorter versions, in order to keep the album moving. Sometimes when groups have included 12" versions on albums, they stand out as filler, and whilst side two is only 16'30 minutes, so plenty of room to fit the full tracks, Moonlight Shadows 12" sounds more like him experimenting, before he hits the best version, (some guitar noodling at the start and a tacked on verse at the end), more a work in progress. If he had to cut anything, I wish he had trimmed the ending of 'Foreign affair', which to my mind goes on too long, with no noticeable variation.
I never got Taurus 3's connection to the previous two parts (QE2, FMO). Can anyone explain it?
Thank you again for the wonderful insights into Mike's work. Referring Hazel O'Connor singing Man in the Rain I would rather say this is not the case. Man in the Rain is about the break up with Sally Cooper some time around 1985/86. And this session with Hazel O'Connor must have taken place during work on Crises.

I enjoy your podcast. After Discovery, would you make a podcast with all the non-album singles from 82-86? 2 years before Crises, never seen that one before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QDtVrQm8PQ
Markus and Tobias, it's a real pleasure to listen to you bouncing off each other's insider knowledge! I'm very much looking forward to future episodes, especially about less celebrated albums. Maybe you'd like to make one on MO's autobiography "Changeling", too? I pricked up my ears when Tobias mentioned Tangerine Dream. It would be great if you continued — some time in the future, as you're just in the middle of Mike's oeuvre — with a series on these masters 🙂
