  • Sorry Lee…. grabs a DS1, sets everything at 12 noon, instantly hates it, then talks about pedals with versatility… hopefully ones with control knobs that can be adjusted.

  • Donner is making pedalboards with the power supply integrated into the back. I've been using this for a few months and it's been fine. Ill probably upgrade later but as someone who came from all digital it kept the cost of entry to the pedal world low.

  • Hmmmm if only Captain Anderton and DP were part of a guitar manufacturing company and could R&D, design and bring to market a “Power Supply Stick” ????????

  • Secret with the DS1 – Lots of distortion, turn down the tone (no more than halfway). That gets rid of the trebly fuzz. Also, it needs to be used into an already driven amp like a Marshall

  • If I tried to do this same thing, the guys at my local music store would lock up, bring the deposit to the bank and go home just because they know I'd have still come up with nothing by the time they opened the next morning

  • Haha when I watch you on the floor I was wondering how it will affect your three letters and how ye going to stand up 🙂 I know there were cut scenes you could rest but anyway it was quite long on the floor.. great job!

  • Multi fx unit for around the same cost?
Used L6 m9 might be an option or an fxstomp or similar
Depends on personal preferences i guess

  • Two things have blown me away.
    1. How damn good does that Squier sound! WOW.
    2. I’ve never found a fuzz pedal I like. The Rusty Fuzz might be the one. All the fuzz I’ve tried was always too fuzzy even on the lowest settings. Rusty seems a bit more tame.

  • 'El Campo' = El Cambo = El Mocambo. It's a tube screamer clone named after SRV legendary El Mocambo gig in Toronto. Interestingly it was originally named the El Mocambo pedal but then was mysteriously renamed to El Cambo not long after. Could have something to do with the El Mocambo (often reffered to as 'the Elmo') venue being renovated and brought back to life Nobody seems to know if this is a TS808 or TS9 clone – nor does anyone seem to know what exactly SRV was playing that gig either, it is discussed from what I gathered nobody knows for certainty.

  • Lee chose the Magus Pro, that one is roughly $80 us, it's the run of the mill Magus that is $50. So The Captains board is about $50 more than advertised.

  • I did fall asleep watching this, then youtube played 3 more videos, I woke up and here I am again!

  • I'm using an Outlaw Iron Horse Tuner/power supply for my mini board. 8 output power supply and tuner in the same size as the Magus. Mini Dyna Comp, Golden Horse,
Durple, Golden Plexi, Ibanez Mini Chorus, and Tape Machine on a Pedaltrain Nano.

  • Take a good compressor (Wampler Alter Ego) a J. Rockett .45 Cal and put it before a J. Rockett Blue Note Pro. Adjust to your taste and find out how they all add to each other for Marshall tones.

  • Doesn't really make much sense making a pedal so small that you can only have side mounted jacks on. The TC ones are quite big, but because it has top mounted, they actually end up taking just slightly less space than the small pedals with straight cable ends. But even with flat angled cables it still ends up taking up almost as much width, if not the same. Then what's the point? I know that the traditional way is sidemounted, so comparing a small one with a regular sized sidemounted is what the point is. But that's just a design flaw really.

So the much better design choice for a smaller pedal, would be to making the pedal just wide enough for top mounts, and then you don't need to have as cramped of a user interface either. I know that the guts of the pedal also has to be taken into account. But even a regular sized pedal with topmounts will take less space than a small one with side mounts and flat angled cables ????‍♂️

  • Behringer and TC Electronics. Can't go wrong. For the record we pronounce it Grand Magus (May-gus) Gus as in the man's name. Tomato/Tomaaato. Also The El Cambo was called the El Mocambo and they changed the name for some reason. Of course the El Mocambo in Toronto is very famous but I don't think it was because of that… not sure. anyone? Captain rig was very thin sounding, propbably due to that Chapman guitar. Pete's rig sounded killer. good job

  • The ds-1 is great with some Amps and horrible with others. The amps basic sound makes the difference between chainsaw and great distortion, i play a little 15 w head with a 1×12 V30, and in this case the ds-1 do a great job. Thank you for all the great vids, its always interesting and funny ????

  • I just realized tone city pedals are not available in my country Malaysia. That durple and sweet cream really my taste tho.

  • The surprise for me was the Beringher overdrive. I agree with Lee, I've always stayed away from them as they're plastic but he made a great point about how disposable other components of our rigs are

  • Put the power supply on top and put the smaller pedals on top of the power supply. Run your cables underneath for a clean look

  • In a live sound setting, a guitar tone through a PA gets altered due to a host of factors. So using budget gear makes very little difference. The #1 best thing a guitar player can do for good tone in a live setting is to turn the hell down! However, In the studio, budget gear is very noticeable. but again, the overall mix of the song will alter the guitar tone. Think of all the songs you have enjoyed listening to that were recorded before kick ass pedals. I argue that the only time expensive pedals really matter is when you are playing alone. This was a very informative video. Good stuff Andertons.
