I’ll demo a few sounds, share my thoughts, and explain why this simple orange box could earn a spot on pedalboards in 2025.

Its relevant for me. My favorite bands and artists have 1 on their board. Some of my favorite death metal records used the ds1 or ds2. Nirvana used the ds1. Its a great pedal. Ive never in my life never wanted to get rid of my boss ds2 ever in my life
My long time favorite is probably the OD-3. I didn’t like the DS-1 until I really messed around with it.

To be honest, I don’t think any of the tones in this video sounded good
My first pedal was a DS-1, I got it for X-mas in '78 and still have it, she's parked on top of my '74 Vibro-Champ. I will be buried with that pedal because, as I like to say she's the greasiest girl in the trailer park.
This pedal is like a rite of passage for every guitar player. Hahaha. I really enjoyed the tone yo got with the Tone and Dist knobs all the way down and the Level knob all the way up. That was a really cool tone.
1.5 million guitarists haven't discovered the proco rat.
