  • Seen the band a lot over the last forty years indoors and outdoors and they always sound great. We laughed when they played an amusement park outside and the stacks on stage were loaded with lights! Poked around the back of the stage to see a black face Deluxe on its side with a mic in front of it,sounded great, that’s Cheap Trick!

  • His son Miles Nielsen is a fantastic musician and writer too . Seriously. Wore out the Chicago fest show on VHS … Great band .

  • Only novice guitarists care about pickups, cables, strings, and pedals. This is rock n roll. You control everything with a volume knob, and how you dig in with the pic. It’s all in your fingers.

  • My band did a show in Rockford, Il (Rick's hometown) and through a friend of our's and a friend of Rick's, we arranged a quick meet and greet. Well, that turned into him coming on stage to play, and then going back to Rick's hilltop mansion to knock back some Rolling Rocks and tour his house. His collection of antique tables is just as impressive as his guitar collection! In addition to being a genius songwriter, he is funny, clever and generous. Surely he is the most "real" rockstar out there.

  • Wonder if he still uses the Disco Dick guitar with the same finish as Bun E.'s drums now that his son replaced Bun E. ?

  • His dad used to have a music store in Rockford I used to frequent. Looks like the speaker cabinets are empty and don't have any backs on them. Which would probably sound terrible outside also his fuchs amps have multi-colored flashing pilot lamps probably non-functional dummies anyway it all makes sense you don't need all that stuff anyway to sound great

  • Rick is famous for not saying what pickups he has, especially in the hamers because he doesnt know usually. if you ask him what pickups those are he will say SILVER ONES… i asked him one and he said i dont know, take it apart and see. but he will alwaays id the paf pups in the older les pauls, the day i got to help his guitar tech he had 5 / 1959 lp's out and ready to use. gotta love that..

  • I think Rick is a real cool guy, with a real cool guitar collection (see his interview on Gibsons "The Collection"). Rick is a outstanding person I hope to see more of him in the future.

  • Met Rick before a show in 2018.
He, along with Angus of ACDC, are the only remaining bigname guitarists who use volume and backline ALONE to get their sound.
AI and plugins can now emulate all amps with software.
    A dying art form.

  • Just out of curiosity (this is after Beck passed), I wonder if Rick still has that Jeff Beck Esquire?
