In this video, I’m reviewing the Donner RISING-G1 Carbon X Wood Acoustic Guitar, and let me tell you, it brings back memories of one of my favorite acoustics, in a weird way! I’ll be playing some music to give you a taste of its sound and briefly pose the question of how the carbon fiber construction might influence the tone. What do you think? If you’re on the hunt for a new guitar or just love exploring different types, this review is for you!

  • so what you said about the sound hole does actually make a big difference, but really only for the player. More popular these days are sound ports, a second sound hole on the side of the bass side of the guitar that directly points at your face. Sound holes basically act like a speaker and the sound of the guitar is projected out of that hole, when you just have the normal sound hole and play, the sound is being transferred away from you so you're not getting as clear of a sound.

Also, while tone wood doesn't exist for electrics in any form, wood does have an affect on the sound of an acoustic. Interestingly, it's not as big of an affect as people think. I think it was Bob Taylor that discussed how he felt that build plan and quality is far more important for the sound of an acoustic. A lot of people are of the opinion that a solid top is inherently going to have superior tone, but when comparing equivalent cheaper guitars, in my experience the plywood has a better sound

  • I’ve got an Enya X4 and I’m very impressed with the sound of a carbon fibre top even though I’ve got some fairly decent other acoustic guitars.

I was wondering if it would be possible to post measurements of the lower belt widest point and the body thickness please. I can’t find these anywhere.

  • After my electric literally started falling apart, I went back to my acoustic, and now I'm kind of rethinking things. The problem with an electric and especially with distortion is a lot more intervals sound worse. The songs I compose tend to have a lot of tritones and such in them, which seem to sound better on a acoustic instrument. I'm stickily a bedroom player however, so what do I know.

  • It has the typical muted lifeless sound that all carbon fiber string instruments tend to have. They tried to put wood on it but it isnt helping.
