Nah, I think strumming comes mainly from the arm, but little intricacies from the wrist. If you strum ONLY with your wrist, your wrist tires out REALLY quickly. Your arm gets you in the area you want, your wrist perfects the tone.

It IS from the elbow. Watch the end he rotates from the elbow, wrist is loose. I think he means not from the shoulder

My guitar instructor taught me that doing it from your shoulder to assist your wrist can help avoid arthritis in your wrist it works for me
…wait- wait. You strum with your wrist? My beginning guitar teacher said you strum with your elbow and ever since I started doing that I noticed it sounded worse and I kept dropping my pick

Thats only good for simple chords. More advanced playing will require various movement of your wrist and elbow. This wrist technique would not be great for fast sweeping or economy picking

The guitar is not designed to be horizontal. It's supposed to be on your other leg, at a 45° angle.
Google "how to hold a classical guitar." That will show you the way the guitar was designed to be held.
The accostic guitar was never meant to be played standing up. People just decided to do that one day.

i used to strum with my elbow and i said “huh let me try this wrist thing” and when i tell you the strum sounded majestic
What the heck is this? ???? Just use softer pick, and play as you like, don't need a 45 degree angle. You'll figure it out.
There is also the balance in how tightly you hold the pick and how hard you want to strum/pick the strings. Too tight, you run into a similar issue. To soft/loosely, the pick will fly out of your fingers
