  • I KNOW!!! THESE GUYS ARE IDIOTS.They dont know hiw to use that pedals.Pedals ar fine everyone of them but not for what they use.

  • The fullborne metal did not sound good. You probably could have make it sound good by dialing the controls, but the 12 o clock was very thin and harsh but not even in a good way.

  • I feel like the people bitching about not liking pedals play rigs with 0 crunch from the amp. Stacking the pedal clipping with the amp clipping is always the way forward.

  • So many guitarists don't know how to use gear. Some gear works best with certain amps, like a DS-1 and a Marshall.

The Clapton pedal, use the right pickup according to the era and song.

The HW-2(W) has more settings than all 10 for Swedish metal. Just ask David Gilmore.

80% of the time when someone says a pedal "sucks" it means they don't know how to use it.

  • The modern DS-1 sucks. The original Japanese Silver Screw is what Kurt Cobain used and they sound much better.

  • For the fullbore pedal it also matters what version you got. There was a red and a green board and two had different tones.

  • I agree completely with all the commenters below that most people don't know how to dial in sounds. Even in prosumer recording gear where a mic pre will only have two knobs, there are those who can't figure out how to get a clean sound! I've had a dbx 386 for years. It has a tube drive knob in the place where almost all preamps have a volume control. The volume control on this one is on the other side. So back in the day, there were dozens, if not hundreds of reviews saying people couldn't get a clean sound out of it! Maybe read the script under the knob? They were obviously trying to get volume out of a distortion device. With only two knobs, do you think maybe they could have tried the other one just once?

  • Honestly that Crossroads pedal is not bad. Especially for the time, that is quite a powerful digital pedal.

  • Not a single Dan Electro pedal.

Honestly the only pedal I've found that really has felt unusable is the Dan Electro Grilled Cheese.

  • MXR should update the fullbore metal pedal. It sounds like ass still. They could fix it and remove the raspy ass ear annoyance aspect to the tone.

  • Being still a complete noob in guitar and effects, wondering why they keep doing "Tone" knub while everyone leaving it at 12' ????

  • This is what I keep trying to share with people in the context of pedals. Your guitar and amp are massive contributors to any pedal. One person's rig can certainly compliment a pedal much better than another person's rig. The amp is a big deal

  • I have a theory that most players think they want distortion when what they REALLY need is boost/od. Most distortion pedals sound awful in general.

  • Boss DS-1 into a crunchy amp is my favorite lead tone. Particularly my Alamo Fury. Amazing y'all have spent so much time with guitars and can't figure that one out.

  • 10:26 I tried one of these once. I got WAY more realistic and convincing acoustic guitar sound from a 10-band graphic equalizer (which was cheaper, by the way).

  • You still need to use both pickups and roll both tones down to about half for Sunshine of your love. That's the trick.

  • the HM2 is the best distortion pedal with everything maxed out and you cant change my mind, its meant to be all knobs maxed out

  • Such a fun video to watch coming in from work before jamming, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do with Andertons vids! much love guys

  • Hehe; The acoustic simulator is the only pedal I own! I got it from my brother's dad who was a semi-professional musician

  • Crazy to think that the OCD was even consider for this list! But again…. Great video, thanks for your good mood, it makes me smile a lot!

  • If you went to a show and watched your favourite players but couldn't see their pedals, there's no way you'd be able to tell if they used a full Behringer pedalboard. The pedals may not last as well on tour, but they sound fine.

  • I used to own a BOSS MEtal Zone, when I was just a young teen in the late 90's and it was a nightmare to work with. Did have fun with it though hehe.

  • I'm not into metal either but the fullbore was kinda cool, not sure if it would sound great in a mix though on the scooped setting

    Reply
  • I definitely thought the majority were at least okay if not good. The only two I didn't really like was the DS-1 as you pointed out and the Fullbore Metal I also thought was irredeemably screechy (or at least on the settings in this video). Maybe with different amps/guitars or more messing around with settings would have something useable, though. The acoustic simulator I thought sounded good, I just didn't hear much in it that made it sound specifically "acoustic-y" rather than just a different EQ of a clean electric guitar.

  • There is no way that Fullbore sounds fine! I'd rather have a Metalzone even

    Reply
  • The DS-1 works so much better when you're using it as a preamp into the effects return instead of in front of the amp.

  • HM-2 had a huge heyday not long ago and continues to be a popular pedal for really heavy death-metal or grind influenced stuff, usually completely dimed and run through an already dirty amp. Nails and Trap Them come to mind as examples of this immediately, but I know there were many bands around that time doing the same thing.

  • Only one of them I have is the Behringer OD300. Turn the drive way down and it body and lots of sensitivity. For that style of dynamic playing it's equal to my Speaker Cranker. That DS1 would have been fine with the tone down and a more cranked amp.
