My Leo Jaymz Hurricane deluxe is pretty sweet. One of a kind with that burl/epoxy top. I am upgraded it with kwickplug gear from guitar fetish, new alnico 2s and new push pull tone, switch and volume. The neck is awesome, the fretboard is real rosewood and has stainless steel frets..I mean it's hard to beat.
I love my Ibanez AZ Prestige. Expensive? Yes, but the neck is just so awesome. I just need one axe and that fills every need.
I have my legacy guitars and have no interest in more of them. I like Fireflies and Heritage. I have not bought a lot of cheaper brands, but they're good. I'm sure there is a dog here and there. All makes have a few that don't make the play.
Back in the 80s,Gibson was my go to brand. Now they arent even a consideration. If I want the Gibson look and feel, it will be a Heritage. The Schecter solo series are fantastic non US made as well.
I got the fender player 2 it’s super clean sound they told me mines has noise less pick ups my ltd jr humbucker I put a Seth lover in it upside down sounds to good to turnover might ruin the sound. It’s only one pick up in it so it’s no big deal.
Come on dude: I agree firefly has some beautiful necks n nice aesthetics n colors. I would like a SG style 4 my collection. And cherry sunburst firefly strat 2 mod n play a while b4 likely giving it away 2 one of kids in the family or my GFs family interested in playing. n they r loaded with specs. And they have a cult following by players in their first 3 years of play. As well as smallish gig musicians. But they do require pickups and n good amount of setup. I understand u liking their necks n specs. They r nice n very pretty n play nice following a good setup. But Not a chance however they outplay some of those guitars u mentioned as is. And if u or anybody did setup work then should that not be mentioned? I did have the pleasure of playing 4 firefly’s in last year. Guitar shops acknowledged they were set cus they required it. And one while pretty was not 4 4 sale cuz it required some setup. There’s just not a chance they come playing better than a Tease Fender or Donner DST 550 If the 550 is anywhere near the dst600. U did say your favorite not the best. But a lot of viewers will come away hearing the firefly was the best guitar of all u mentioned. If it was the best then it was treated to some serious setup work. Cuz no while beautiful guitars n very spec’d out 4 the money. No firefly I played was in same league as the Tease in playability n setup
P.S. Aklot is intriguing cuz I bought several of their pedals n i was surprised
Aklot makes cool mini pedals so I’m not surprised
Mucho respect for Heritage. And it’s interesting that they’re making “high-end Harmony”s… they sound/look nice in the reviews i’ve seen. I’ve got of few on my reverb warchlist. What i like about Firefly, besides the low-price for decent quality, is that they’re doing a pretty wide variety of designs. Here’s to an interesting 2026. cheers
Once I get my income back, I would love to buy a guitar like that popcaster from your channel. Owning stuff from cool YouTubers I like is just super cool
Totally agree on Heritage. Old school Midwest vibe. Love it. Every one of them that I’ve played has beat the Gibsons. Their relic silver burst model is a bucket list guitar for me despite the price.
What is the hang up on full thickness? I'm looking for a thinner and lighter guitar. And I'm serious about that, too. Just sold off 6 heavy (full thickness) guitars and bought a Fender Player ll Tele. Six pounds and 4.5 oz.
I've purchased a couple flamed maple, stainless steel fret Strat necks from China off of eBay for about $65 each, shipping included. I put them on Donner DST-152 bodies which I also got on eBay for about $65-70. This combination has created a guitar that I would put up against anything. There was nothing wrong with the Donner necks, but the flamed maple, stainless steel necks are so nice. They also have the Fender shaped headstock, if that matters.
Guitars iv had in past 10 years thai liked, classic vibe telle thinline, santana se, silver sky se, 2010 squire strat. Nashville deluxe telle, fender player strat. Im just looking for a good used strat now. Great vedeo. Those are some good choices you featured. Great reviews.
Good work Jayce !
I must have missed the Squier Classic Vibe review. I had my eye on that model, I always loved the 73 custom style teles.
Congrats on a great year Jayce. Onwards and upwards for 2026.
Great video friend!
I held on to a rondo guitar FOREVER cause they stopped making them, ended up selling them eventually cause squier made a 6 string bass like the fx usra and after I was invested enough to get a better guitar it made the douglas corvus feel like playing a wood plank. I don't like having more than 6-10 guitars/basses because I'll feel bad if its not getting played
I thought it was about guitar picks !
I’ve had a G&L F100 II since 1980 when I had my last band and have kept it all these years. It’s my favorite electric to record with and had held up well. I had it appraised a few years ago and GC quoted me $1100. Your guess is as good as mine which way the resale price will go. Regardless, it has too much sentimental value to sell, so my kids can deal with it when the time comes. In the meantime I like playing as many “good to great” budget guitars I can get my hands on. One other thing…it seems like everywhere I look on YouTube there’s someone talking up Fesley. I bought one awhile back and it arrived in horrible condition (from factory) so it was sent back. Have they really improved that much?
Oh, and I enjoy your videos and keep up the good work.
I think you are right keeping the Epiphone. I am going for a new guitar around April, and have decided that I want stainless steel frets. Thus my choices will be Yamaha RSS20 or Sire L7 New Gen. Would you have any thoughts on these? Thank you, and I enjoy your videos.
Crazy year, man. So many good guitars. Some pretty crap ones.
Regarding the Heritage, they are great guitars…though I heard Heritage is struggling, which is a shame if it's true. The Les Paul alternative I've found to be built even better are the 2 PRS S2 McCarty 594 singlecuts I have. I have a regular red burst one, and Danville Music close to where I'm at had some wood library versions custom made for them, I picked one up. The wood library is especially good, and I only paid $2k for it. They still have a couple, and was a great store to work with, I try to give them business over Guitar Center these days. Anyway, both of these guitars are a slight cut above the Heritage I have. They both are lighter and more resonate. You should try one or an SE version if you haven't. I do have an SE too, it's got a thicker neck than the S2s, I like the neck on the SE slightly more…it doesn't sound quite as good, the Heritage sounds better than the SE…so there you go, even a shoot out idea for you 😉
It would be fun to get folks to tell us their favorite 3 musical purchases of 2025.
Nice – you've had your hands on quite the variety this year (and did a great job entertaining while working with them too)! Hard to argue against any of your favorites, and I completely get your "on the fence" position on the G&L. If I had to pick a favorite as a viewer, I really enjoyed your Red Dog build.
This list makes me want to buy more guitars!!! Dang it!!! ???? Jokes aside, I guess I'm entering a Telly phase because I really would love to try some of the Tele-style's you have shown!! Sadly, some are not available in Europe ???? the one that I really want is the Squier Deluxe with two Humbuckers, although all black!! I found a used one for sale on an Italian website and I am keeping all my eyes on it!! ???? Great video, as always!!
Although I check out some other "YouTubers" I can't remember anybody doing a year in review that was a good idea. Concerning that Leo Jaymz telecaster that's the one I had my eyes on during your giveaway. Are you going to save it for next time? I had a Fender tele around 20 years ago but sold it when we moved. Anyway, I've checked out the Firefly and the Sire brand and they both have gotten good reviews. I've seen the Fesley and that one seems pretty good as well.
Great fun to see this very cool look back at your activity —that's a LOT of guitars to process in any way! I agree 100% about Squier Classic Vibe guitars — they are every bit as good as my Fenders. And the same goes for the Epiphones —in my experience, they are at least as good as my Gibsons. I appreciate you doing the field work for us! Keep up the great work! If I wasn't culling my guitar herd, I'd finally get myself a Firefly — but…but…no…I…can't.
