I have a Fender CD-60SCE, all mahogany. Definitely has a warmer tone, but the but to get another guitar has been biting me a lot lately ????
Omg he sounds exactly like trump
Nothing special on the mahogany woods that I hear. However, the Koa sounds great across all frequencies and is absolutely beautiful.
❤️
I have an ‘09 Martin D15 I bought secondhand. It was made before the 15-M series was guaranteed to be mahogany, so I think my guitar may actually be sapele. It is a wonderful, warm, fat-sounding guitar and would be my #1 to save from a fire.
Have a 1976 Lo PrinI, lm-15, and it’s wonderful
No all mahogany guitars?
Sapele and Koa are not related to Mahogany at all.
I have a Martin D18. As much as I love the look of Indian Rosewood, I like the sound of mahogany just a tad more. Both woods are great, but I do believe mahogany gets overlooked by its more expensive counterpart of Indian Rosewood.
And ALL-mahogany guitar is definitely right for me!
Where’s Elizabeth?
Eastman guitars are tone less crap
I was convinced I wanted a rosewood guitar. And it looks beautiful. After playing many guitars of every brand and wood I landed on my Eastman e10D and absolutely love it.
Nice John! I have an Ibenez AC340 OPN guitar built with okume and I love it! So nice for an entry level guitar! Sounds great and I did a setup on it so it plays great as well.
Guitars overall sound nice. I think the mahogany has a deep rich sound. I noticed the guitars have a really nice sustain….. not sure if that's the microphone or the sound system
So much to learn! How does the top and side material impact the sound?
Is there ever a Belizean mahogany?
No no no!!! Mahogany is dark brown!! You lie!!! I can't hear you … lalalallalalalalala
Love the darker tone of the Koa, but I'm not so keen when the top is also Koa; way too compressed for me unless I'm recording
Well, every time I hear koa it just doesnt sound good, yeah it looks beautiful but sound is thumbs down
I have a mahogany 1965 Gibson LG-1 that's mahogany–it has a really nice, woody tone and not too shrill or bright. Also if you are in the market for a Taylor GS Mini, the mahogany ones are considered to be the best sounding (I have one). They make a koa one that sounds fantastic as well but it's a couple hundred bucks more.
you didnt show one with "the tree"
I have a Guild D20e
All Mahogany. Get a Lot of compliments on its sound. Love it
As beautiful as they are, I'm yet to hear a guitar with koa back and sides that doesn't sound horrible. They really stand out in the worst way possible.
Talk to me about rosewood. I like the deep thump of a bluegrass cannon.
I have a koa problem im in rehab for it but……oh yaa????
#2 was the brightest sounding, #4 was the best all around sound to my ears & I've been playing for 52 years.
Great info
My eyes like rosewood but my ears prefer mahogany
Thank you. Still learning everyday. Took up guitar very late in life, and am enjoying the trip.
Mahogany is right for me, but I do enjoy a fine sounding rosewood now and then… especially for certain songs and situations.
