What Chair Do I Use for Classical Guitar?

What Chair Do I Use for Classical Guitar? In this video I look at the best two chairs for classical guitar that I’ve found so far. One is a drum throne and the other an antique piano stool.

  • I thought I was weird for using a drum throne for practicing, but apparently I’m not alone. I love it for all the same reasons you do!

  • Drum throne is definitely my choice as well. A more budget-friendly option to the Nitro is a Gibralter moto-style. I've played on one nearly daily for over 5 years and it's still comfortable (and quiet!). Also very stable once you have it locked in. I haven't had to re-adjust in years.

  • Well, off to the antique stores I go! Love that "claw" chair you have (would really work with my 19th century house!)

  • Love the classic chair! What about adding a circular pad on top for comfort? You would have the best of both!

  • I used an office chair for two years and blamed my other hobbies for giving me crook hips. Then I found the same drum throne as described in this video. Problem gone.

  • A yes to drum thrones here. Go into a physical shop and sit on them all! Some look nice but are not very comfortable, so the only way is to try. I ended up with a good old Yamaha which is still fantastic after 10 years. Great practical vid thanks.

  • Hear me out! ???? I use a fishing/hunting chair. It is like a lawn chair ????, with the foldable mesh seat and back but it has a triangle seat instead of a square one. It has a back rest but no arm rests. It has a swivel seat that is very quiet. Once you get seated, you're locked in but have free movement from side to side. It's also foldable with a carry bag. If anyone is ever in a sports store or hunting type place, just try one, it might be what you're looking for.

  • Classic Bradford video… Straight forward and to the point. That's so refreshing today when it seems so many YouTube presenters feel like they have to "glam" or "tart" everything up. ????

  • I use a round memory foam cushion that I found on Amazon to make my chair more comfortable.

  • +1 for a drum throne. I use one, a Pearl Roadster D2000, for both guitar and saxophone. With having no back, it encourages good posture. Buy the best you can afford and keep the clamps nice & tight, to provide solid support.

  • Do you find you have to be careful not to bump your guitar on the edge of the chair when you’re sitting down on a perfectly round one? Speaking from experience here ???????? Maybe I’m a bit clumsy..
