Classical guitars are our passion! We are specialized in the highest quality concert guitars as well as historic guitars from around the world. Our passion for these unique instruments and the joy to give guitarists, passionate players, and collectors the possibility to purchase their own appropriate instrument is the motivation that drives us. Another focus is to work closely with established and young, largely unknown luthiers. Together we want to develop new ideas and share experiences with our customers. We also recorded pieces for many great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Astor Piazzolla and Isaac Albeniz (Asturias). You will also find almost all the classical music composers that wrote for the classical guitar. Make sure to discover Agustin Barrios Mangoré, Manuel Maria Ponce, Heitor Villa-Lobos and many more if you don’t know their compositions already You can find our showroom in 76137 Karlsruhe, Roonstr. 31, Germany ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

Are these models consistent in tone? I found a 1985 model? Thanks
I love my 1976 Sakurai No. 5. Such beautiful tone and excellent volume as well. I think those laquer finishes must be durable, as mine is also in remarkably great shape, with the original gloss. The No. 5 has a cedar top and double plate rosewood sides and back, and it's a 660mm scale. I use light tension strings on mine to bring it to a medium tension feel. It wasn't until somewhere in the early 80's when Sakurai went to 650 and 640 scale. Of my four classical guitars (three are handbuilt). the Sakurai No. 5 is the loudest and has the richest tone of all. I feel so honored to have it, given the Kohno/Sakurai history and legacy. I got mine for only $1200 two years ago from Elderly Instruments. Any Sakurai from the 70's and 80's is almost always a fantastic value – especially when you consider that Masaki Sakurai's new builds go for between $8000-15,000. Thankfully, the master is still alive and well!
Thanks, Sicca's for featuring this guitar! Warm wishes from Michigan!
As an investigator around Japanese guitars of the seventies / early eighties
I must have to say that these guitars often come from small workshops in
factories as Ibanez and Takamine. Only a few very skilled workmen did their
labour on these guitars. I am the one responsible for the Blog: "Juan Orozco
Dealer ot Luthier?" In a personal letter from Juan Orozco, this salesman stated
that Kohno, Sakurai and his person ordered guitars from Tama (in fact Ibanez)
for the worldwide market.
The guitar presented here has exactly the same headstock as the Hirade labelled
guitars of that period. Those Hirade guitars were made in the Takamine plant.
Apart from all that a small group of luthiers took pride in making beautiful high
end guitars. I owe a Hirade Concert Arte nr. 15 model that simply is a stunning
instrument and indeed on parr with the qualities you are showing here on this
Sakurai labelled guitar. Nonetheless not being made by the big name on the
label they indeed can be great, sometimes excellent and depending on their
price worth every penny!
I purchased the same model at an antique shop for $113.00 US dollars.
It’s in fantastic shape and sounds amazing. Quality craftsmanship.
Truly beautiful guitar and sound, more so in your hands! I'm very lucky and proud to own this same guitar.
Lovely !????
