  • Is YouTube doing some new "loudnes bullshit"? On almost every new guitar gear test i watch (not just yours) , the guitar sounds are totaly "clamped down" and spoken word is super loud. Very strange.

  • TONE KING JUST RELEASED THE NEW 7.1 FIRMWARE. Just connect the Royalist to your computer and the software editor does the rest. Updates are great!

  • Would love to see how well it can emulate the brown sound of a cranked super lead plexi! Gotta make a video on how well it does the Van Halen sound!

  • Michael, Great video as always, picking one up tomorrow at my favorite music store this pedal came at the perfect time finally got my studio rewired and now this will be my Marshall tones so I'am super hyped anyway Take Care!

  • Another awesome video, Michael. Knowing your love for the SYN20-IR, how does this pedal compare to a Syn 20+Marshall JMP module going direct? Leaving aside the features and versatility of the open Synergy ecosystem. I love the Imperial pedal, but have been eyeing the Syn20 with the JMP until this wrinkle.

  • Okay, this one is definitely tempting.. it's possible to go direct to PA? And load your own IRs?!? "Preamp" is a big understatement then..

  • Great demo! Does it take dirt and fuzz pedals as well as the imperial preamp can? Also have an IRD and curious if this is an upgrade over it overall

  • We need this demoed through the power amp of the Jose! Might be the best 3 channel Marshall ever

  • UUUHHH….NO…IMO, it seems redundant. I like the tone from the Tone King Imperial Tri-tube Preamp and If I wanted it and could afford it and also did not mind spending $599.99 + tax for a pedal (seems way to costly), I would just buy it.

  • Michael, does this one only output the power amp sounds through XLR, like the Imperial preamp? That was a deal breaker for me with the TKIP with the way I run my board (no room for XLR). Sounded great, but I swapped it for an IR-J. I wish they used TRS like the Friedman stuff.

  • Superb review. Sounds massive. I’m getting one to put alongside my Imperial preamp. Dilemma: which one do I use as a Master, TKRP into TKIP to get the Imperiak reverb/tremolo with both, or vice versa!?!?
Also I love the JTM and Plexi cleans!

  • Love your work Michael but if you want to be serious you would dial in the Marshall and AB it otherwise it’s just a hype vid

  • These kinds of tones can be had out of one tube with the right circuit. Or almost. Definitely two tubes.

If you can't get absolutely crushing metal with three tubes, that's a fail.

  • I’ve heard and tried pretty much every direct guitar amp, and I can’t tell if I’m just imagining that this is the best sounding amp replacement device I’ve ever heard. It’s sounds so good. Have you tried it with pedals? Distortion? Fuzz?

  • That Kashmir intro was pretty rocking… Had to hear it a couple more times. ????

  • I now need a full Michael Nielsen cover of “Kashmir”, this intro made my morning and I’m not even that big of a zeppelin fan ????

  • I have a victory kraken preamp pedal, is it possible to use that preamp into the royalist poweramp and ir, but still keep the stereo effects loop? So then, I would have high gain tones along with these vintage marshall tones. One thing… I dont see a presence or thump switch on the software, so maybe it wouldnt sound as good?

  • This is labeled as a preamp, so where does the power amp modeling come in?? If I go into the fx return of an amp do I need to “turn off” the power amp or bypass it somehow?

  • I ordered one from Dave at Sound Shoppe NYC this morning. I can't wait to get it. If it's half as great as the Imperial pedal, it will be astonishingly good.
