  • Hi music lovers! This channel was created by Pavel Fomenkov and Igor Mikryukov as a place to collect all the best Mark Knopfler related videos and bootlegs in the best quality humanly possible, we took an enormous amount of effort to make each video basically as good as it can be given our limited resources and access to archives. As by March 2020, most of the videos are blocked and the channel even has 1 copyright strike, because Mark's management has opened an official channel and run it flawlessly, so you can say that their brilliant team have picked up where we left off. With that said, and because there's zero possibilities for this channel to evolve, I recommend you to join the official Mark Knopfler Youtube channel or my own channel — Pavel Fomenkov, where I strive to create 100% legal MK related content, mainly my little project "The Mark Knopfler Songbook", where I try to learn every single Mark's song on one acoustic guitar and share my experience with the world. I'd love to see you there! Pavel. P.S. You can find both channels in the "Recommended" section of this channel.

  • Besides (IMO) the greatest guitarist ever, by far!, a lot of people say he is boring. But in every interview he's actually quite funny (real British humor and selfspot) and he has so many stories to tell. Making him one of the best songwriters also. The story about Sultans and Money for Nothing: observing where you are, what people say and just write a song about that… Mark is my all time hero. I mean, if you kiss your guitar sincerely during an interview… Humble, just a casual man, always explaining why which guitar and how to use it, on which song etc etc.

  • 1 chord, 4 chord and 5 chord. And he makes the guitar sound like it’s doing something impossible to replicate. ????????????

  • 5:51, NGL, the Money for Nothing riff actually sounds very exciting/chilling without full distortion. Still love the original the most but hearing it without distortion is still really cool. It probably would sound like that if the song came out 15-20 years before 1985.

  • I just love that you can see him thinking about his music, drifting off into magic then coming back to try and explain it but letting the instrument do the talking.

  • He gets hypnotized by his own playing. Truly, a guitar master, and one of my favorite guitar players of all time

  • Any sound gurus out there know how he is getting that tone out of that Gibson? It's so specific. If anyone could help that'd be great

  • I grew up listening to Dire Straits, my dad loved them.

It's now as an adult though that I'm listening to the classics and appreciating how amazing Mark is. He's got such a gentle approach to the guitar and I love that.

The electric guitar is a full sounding instrument and you can make the most awesome sounds by barely touching the fretboard. Less can be so much more!

I also love how he uses his pinky to stabilise when he finger picks. I've always done that, and I thought it was 'wrong', til I watched Knopfler do the same. ☺️

  • Does anybody know what kind of acoustic guitar that nice tobacco sunburst one is that he was playing? A Gibson? Martin?

  • There are no words to describe him playing "Romeo and Juliet" on that guitar. It's beautiful.

  • I’ve personally never seen such a great video on YouTube. This guy never limited himself on guitar, he knows it all and he loves his craft.

  • I like how he treats his guitars with respect and love. Like they are his life long companions.

  • How does Mark think the 6 Dire Straits albums would have sounded if he had used a guitar pick on them and would they have been as good??!!!

  • 8:07 "it's really flexible and….endless fun for young and old…in this case…old." He can't stop having way with words even when just chit chatting can he? lol

  • Watching a fan lose themselves in what they love. Legend. He is a humble fan of the instrument and a true lover of music.
