  • The bridge sounds awful.

    It is so shrill.

I guess that some pedals could fix that, but it is difficult to listen to no matter how good the playing may be.

  • Very cool! Interesting tones, was wondering about the nut width? Is it std. as most 12ers have 1 7/8” nut

  • Awesome video there is one way to fix the intonation problem tune all strings in unison you get a double guitar effect

These were originally made as a less Expensive alternative to the Rickenbacker 12 string Guitar & it can still be used that way these days because of its nice bright jangle reminiscent of a 60s Rickenbacker 12. Here's Turn Turn Turn by Pete Seeger arranged by the Byrds played on a Danelectro 12:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a4ZBnBmjFw

  • Very nice demo but the mic picking up all of the lip smacking/swallowing/mouth noises was driving me bonkers.

  • Rise in sound level from both pickups is due to Danelectro wiring the middle position of (virtually?) all their guitars in ‘parallel’, as opposed to the ‘normal’ convention of ‘series’.
It looks like the bridge on this guitar is fully intonatable, i.e. each of te 12 strings as an adjustable saddle – something fairly unusual, and VERY useful, which might have been worth pointing out!
BTW: The positioning of the octave strings of the bottom 4 pairs ABOVE the root note is the convention in (virtually) all acoustic and electric 12 strings. The only exception to this rule with 12 strings tends to be the (stratospherically priced) Rickenbacker twelves.

  • Awesome! I recently bought a 59 Devine 6 string, but I’ve got to add one of those to my collection. Very inspiring…

  • Это актуально для акустики , но для современной электро – нонсенс! This is true for acoustics, but for modern electro – nonsense!

  • I had one and then I acquired my buddy's 12-string Ric, so I sold the Dano. Now I miss the Dano. The Ric's neck width near the bottom of the neck is so slender. But the sound is so vintage. I dunno whether to sell it or not. Plus, there's an emotional connection since my bud passed away.

  • Just got mine from Amazon two weeks ago in vintage white for $539.00. Great playing and sounding guitar, right out of the box. No regrets here. Anyone considering an affordable 12 string to add to their collection should not have any reservations about buying this guitar.

  • Love these guitars! As a very reasonably priced alternative to a Ric, it’s unbeatable, and the only guitar I’ve bought in recent years that was perfectly set up out of the box..so good in fact I’ve just bought an old Clapton/Blind Faith psychodelic painted 59 just just as good ????

  • I own one of these Danoelectro's. It is easier to play then my Rickenbacker 330/12 as the neck on the rick is so narrow. The sound is great and the cost is about one fourth that of a Rickenbacker. Of course the Rick has the low strings on the top while the Dano has the higher strings on the top which is standard for allmost all 12 strings except the Rickenbacker .So there is a differance in the sound.I play 12 strings all the time and this Dano is a wonderful sounding guitar. I have the semi hallow body version. They also have a solid body version of this guitar. For the price you cant go wrong.

  • Wasn’t the piece from the intro the one that Jimi Hendrix played at the close of his Woodstock performance with Band of Gypsies?

Oh right, it’s titled “Villanova Junction Blues”.

  • what about the balance? judging by the way you holding the body with your armpit, it seems the longer head stock is heavy and pulls the guitar down so you have to hold the neck from falling all the time

  • I would have liked a clear close view of the bridge. The intonation sounds spot on on this one, but I would love to know how you can adjust it. Can you do that for the regular and octave strings individually? BTW, the reason there's that volume jump between the individual PUs and the middle position is that the latter selects the PUs in series. I think that's the case on all Danos, and I love that feature. It's almost like a built in booster.

  • I played one of these in guitar center the other day and Ive been so obsessed with them

  • I don't know why so many reviews of these have people playing leads and riffs, these are used almost exclusively as rhythm guitars in most bands, and mostly for big sounding chords like in that song "I melt with you"

  • Great demo that avoided the cliches and just showed the instrument and its tones. I have a Dano and a Ric and my go-to just to play 12 is the Dano every time.
