Marshall Origin 20 Tube Combo Amplifier Review
Get the Marshall Origin 20 combo here: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ORI20C–marshall-origin-ori20c-20-watt-1×10-inch-tube-combo-amp
CORRECTION: At 1:17 in the video Don refers to cascading the amplifier inputs, which implies a serial signal path, when he really meant that “cascading” the channels together creates parallel signal paths.
Packed with a generous complement of tubes, the Origin ORI20C exhibits vintage-inspired Marshall tone. This amp is powerful in its simplicity. Dial in the Gain and Master controls to get the right amount of crunch, then shape your tone with the Presence knob and the 3-band EQ. A unique Tilt control blends bright and normal sounds, while switchable power enables high-output sounds at any volume.

I am looking adding a Marshall, I currently play through a fender blues junior. Which one has that glassy marshall clean tone? Origin or DSL. Both have great driven tones. thank for your advice.
That is a very nice sounding amp
THe Price point of this amp and the build quality seems really good!
great demo as always…
really love this amp!
boosted with a Blues Driver clone with gain at 0 or with a Germanium Fuzz Face clone it's amazing: lot of sound just using guitar volume knob
Great playin and great review . Thanks
Why doesn’t mine sound like this? Even when I turn it up decently and have the gain all the way up I’m not getting the breakup he is
Still kinda fizzy compared to most Plexi amps I've played ..
i hear a lot about the 10' speaker, is this a serious matter, if someone is interested in buying that amp only for bedroom use??
Wow the cleans at the end are like sunshine sparkling on a beautiful river at dawn.

As soon as I saw Don Carr I knew this was going to be a good review.
I really enjoyed your demo. Nice touch, beautifull playing. I just got an origin 20 head with a SV112 cabinet and it's awsome. I also ordered right away a tumnus mini pedal. By the way, what were your settings on the tumnus to get this raging tone I enjoyed so much? I also liked the clean and drive tones. I wrote them down and they worked just fine with my amp at home with a two notes captorX attenuator for neighbours safety ! Thanks. Patrick.
Mine arrived yesterday and I’ve hardly slept since ????????
Wish someone would demonstrate some of the clean settings too. The driven tones are very good and I think there must be some pretty clean tones.
Oh well
Guess I’ll have to go find one somewhere and try it
The fact Don couldn't create a bad tone out of it suggests its a great sounding amp!
I plan on getting the 50 watt combo! Or the 20watt combo it’s cheaper then studio vintage
Great amp but this guy can make anything sound amazing,
Looks like I might have found my amp.
As far as grab, go and blast, I like this more than the DSL series. Much easier to dial in.
Kinda creeps me out a little when he's looking "almost" at the camera….but not quite…. yikes.
You look like my friends aunt
Nice voicings towards the end. Cool to watch someone making music.
Nice job. However comma there's no explanation for the jacks in the back for the newbie like me. I'm trying to figure out how to set up my Boss ME-80 with my new Origin 20 and how the supplied footswitch works in conjuction with the Boss. I hate reading manuals so I'm looking here…
Was his clean sound from a pedal or the amp?
Is this the guy in curb your enthusiasm? Larry's friend?
I hear tis has a 1. How hard would it be to alter it for a 12?
sweet
This sounds GREAT!
I wish professional reviewers would simply review the single product rather than adding pedals and other extra items.
That amp sounds amazing
Vanessa Redgrave!
The heavy rock and metal tones suck. I loved the Strat clean at the end. I'd like that amp for simplicity as I have a Marshall TSL 602 and it's too complex. I've a Fender Super210 that's great clean. Clean is where it's at for me.
Play it dry please,, no stompbox
AC/DC MACHINE!
The Origin line all have a problem with the 8ohm jacks in back. You wont know unless you plug 2 cabs.I just got my 20 head in July and only one of the 8ohm outputs work.
Up until 2009 i was a sole user of Tube Amps..2009 i was introduced to the Marshall MG 100 FX..i was blown away..it came Stock with Celestion Speakers and 100 WATTS of Pure Marshall power..here i am almost a decade later haven't used any Tube Since 2009 and still have and use that Same Marshall MG 100 FX..and not one single issue with it..you can not say that about any Tube Amp..the Marshall MG 100 FX is simple remarkable..its my favorite
It is not all tube. It has a SS rectifier.
I wonder what a Friedman BE OD would sound like through this amp.
Why oh why are most amp demo's done with distortion.it would of been nice to hear the clean sounds,if any, at the beginning.oh, and why not a 12 inch speaker !
Tried this amp today and it is awesome! Basically it’s a baby plexi!!!
Is it possible to get some metal sound like Priest?
One of the best demos so far. It seems like the tilt, treble and presence have to be down a bit to Control the fizz in the gain. Waiting for my 20 head to pair with a 212 🙂 Thank you for a good demo????
Don is looking a bit glassy-eyed . . is he healthy?
wow! Jimmy Dean grew his hair and doing amp ads now…guess the sausage gig dint work..
Marshall should do what they do best heads and cabs. they were never good at making combos that's not their heritage. Buy a Mesa Boogie if you want a combo.
This is the best sounding review of this amp that I have heard!
WTF, Sweetwater? I never got an email saying they were available 🙁
Digging it.
origin or the new dsl?
Where is this amp built?
