Cordoba Guitar Shoot Out

This video is a comparison between the Cordoba C1, C5, and C7 Guitars. when you are buying your first classical guitar these are some things to look out for!

I made this video because when trying to find a video like this I couldn’t really find that many that seem that helpful. That doesn’t mean I think that my video is the best (or even anywhere near perfect). However I do think this is a decent video comparing the three guitars side-by-side and talking about them as a classical guitarist and what I find good, and not so good about each one

When trying to buy your first Classical Guitar there are so many brands to choose from. In my experience cordoba guitars are always reliable and a great guitar for the price. For under $600 these are all great instruments. Students are so lucky that they can find a decent sounding and playing classical guitar for that price!

I want to think once again Joe Burros of Fine musical instruments in Springfield Massachusetts for helping me out by letting me use his guitars. If you were in that area and I’m looking to buy a guitar I would highly recommend to check out his showroom.

  • Purchased a C5 several years ago for my wife to play folk guitar. Tested the “floor model” (set up and played by customers) and it sounded great. Decided to buy it and the sales clerk said, “Wait and I’ll get you a new one in the box.” NO! I’ll take the floor model! Years later it sounds as good as some of my guitars costing seven or eight times as much. Lessons: (1) More money does not always guarantee a better guitar, and (2) Marry the one you date. ????

  • I'm interested in the Cordoba C3M which is in between the price of the C1 and C5 and has a solid cedar top, like the C5. The C1 is all laminate, I think.

  • C5 is weird, it sounds good but when u compare to others it doesn’t sound as good

  • The lower-cost Cordoba models are untouched by Spanish hands and are mass-produced in Chinese factories with artificially dried wood.

  • reading some comments on the internet, a lot of people complained that the c5 has a problem with the bridge coming off. did it happen that often because now I'm afraid to buy that guitar

  • Hello very good I bought a guitar cordoba c3m and c5 both I did not like so bad with manufacturing defects is what you know a classic brand much better than that

  • Can you tell me the shape of the neck on the C7 (rounded C or is it thinner)? Does it have a gloss finish?

  • Dude they all sound very much the same just tonal differences. I got the C1 with bone bridge and nut and use Pro Arte EJ45TT it has great projection and it sounds just a good a 6 or 800 dollar model. On performance nobody can tell how expensive my Cordoba is just the it sounds great and my playing style makes all the difference. I hate it when you guys try to get to get the public to buy expensive guitars for no good reason.

  • Cordoba 6 c5ce CD classical cutaway I was interested in hearing that but you went from the C12 the C5 to the C7 skipping the six unfortunately from him. Lol but I really want an Alvarez 8660 cutaway but I can't find one that I can afford I'm elderly and my housemate has PTSD and tid and he's got a lot of problems and he smashed my guitar my Yamaha with a classic he's not going to replace it he's got severe problems

  • Been playing guitar nearly 60 yrs….I've played Rock and some country music in bands in the past.I also can finger pick which is leading to want to start playing classical guitar since my singing voice has all but gone and playing chords to songs is boring to me without singing….Long time ago , I learned Blackbird in which McCartney picks his way through and really liked the song. I guess it would be best for me to start with the C5 and see how it goes. Some of the Classical pieces I've seen played look very difficult but no one ever knows what they can accomplish without giving it a try eh'"…..Thanks for the Knowledgable review on these three guitars which has given me a better understanding of the differences between them.

  • Great review! Picked up a used C5 from Guitar Center for $220 and have been very happy with it. This video gave me a really good understanding of what is important when looking for a classical guitar. Thanks!

  • whats with the c4? is it so bad that it doesnt deserve a video? the version with cutaway and a thinniner neck costs a little less than the c5.

  • Excellent and informative video, as usual. I recently decided to upgrade and initially wanted an all solid wood guitar. My first choice was a used C10 since any other make of guitar with solid back and sides was way out of my price range. After discussing with my wife I decided to wait a while on that dream and I “settled” for a used C7. I am beyond impressed with the sound and playability of that guitar, especially the lows. The highs are good, but not great, in my opinion. Since I never got to play a C10 I was just wondering how much better that would sound that the C7 in your opinion (or if you have played those higher end Cordoba’s)? Would it have been worth spending the extra money to get the solid back and sides?

  • I started off with the Cedar C5, then made the plunge and got a Spruce C12. That's my baby. If my C12 were the last guitar I would ever own or play, I'd be happy with that. Sounds like a guitar worth twice the amount. Can not go wrong with a Cordoba!!!

  • Honestly the C5 sounded as good as the C7 but of course it's the feel of the instrument in your hands that matters.
