Thanx for the review , I was considering buying one but not now . Most things I have bought that are made in China by slave labor are crap . I really miss American made quality products…
I would LOVE to talk with you about this kit. I recently built a Parker kit from them. I had parts missing and tons of extra packs of screws for who knows what. It took them 3 months to respond to me and when they did, I was told it was impossible for their kits to be anything but perfect. Impossible. Which is ridiculous of course but I'd love to know if you had any interactions with them.
A loose truse rod is no good pushing it back isn't going to stop it from shifting it should be tight in the neck.
How long did it take to get to you from the time of ordering?
Should the truss rod not be anchored on the
Glue joint end ????
How would it create tension otherwise
Anchored on both ends ,,,, NO ?
Its looks like 67 model I try to buy it, I hope its same size on the body, the problem is to find a neck,. Kjell from Sweden
Is this 1967 Flying V kit?
I've toyed with the idea of building a kit guitar for YEARS. Realistically though, my complete lack of woodworking skills has always kept me from pulling the trigger… ????
Thanks for posting my son and i are going to build a razorback soon.
Really nice looking-only thing that's holding me back?-On the Pango site it shows the body but without no holes drilled for the bridge/tailpiece.
How long does it take to fulfill a guitar? I been waiting over 1 month and they supposedly were building it.
I would absolutely not purchase a guitar kit from this company. When I unboxed the kit and reviewed the body and neck. the laminate was buckled in 2 places so it was impossible to glue back down and repair. The neck had scratches on it that were so deep they could not be sanded out. When I sent an email and complained about the state of the kit they ignored me for weeks. When I finally did receive a reply after 5 emails they informed me that if I wanted I could send it back (at my expense) and they would determine if they would replace it or refund my money. When I showed them the photos of the veneer buckling they said and I quote "This is a diy guitar kit, no sanding, no polishing, For this little issue, it can be fixed by some glue easily". Which of course it can't. Stay well clear of this company and purchase from a reputable company.
did the neck need any adjustment from you or did it glue right in? thanks
The truss rod on my Yinfente neck was sticking out like this. I tapped it in because it slid out beyound where i was supposed to be. Your's may have slid out as well.
Nice looking guitars but I will never buy from pango again. They look good but they ALL have issues. some minor and some big. I got an explorer kit and my issue was bad. I think they sell kits with issues at reduced price but dont tell you. If you email them about it they will offer you 20$ off or return on your dime. most wont send back so in end they keep money. STAY AWAY from these kits unless you are pretty handy with repairs. every single youtuber with pango kits all have issues. WARNING!! NECK ANGLE, BRIDGE POSTS NOT IN CORRECT PLACE, TRUS ROD LOL, MINE INPUT JACK HOLE SO OFF CENTERED WAS SO UGLY. and was told its suppose to be like that and oh we check all our guitars and they perfect before shipping lol.
Hi Bill. I just ordered the bolt on version with the black binding and spalted maple top. Im hoping it arrives that it arrives a little quicker than yours and that it doesn't suck. lol Couple questions. Did they reach out aside from the order confirmation? If so, how long did that take? I think I'm going to try a Tru-Oil finish on mine. Im interested to see what upgrades you end up doing, and if standard Gibson/Epi bridge pieces jive with it if you go that route.
looks like a hog v, the fretboard goes too deep into the body, like a bolt on
I thought truss rods were supposed to be glued in so they do not move up/down or spin?
Pretty cool kit, I've been wanting to put together a guitar. I play bass and love my Thunderbird. The V is a guitar I have always been a big fan of. I think a burst would look cool, like yellow in the middle bursting to red and then bursting to the black edge, if that makes sense. Like a fire burst.
Hey Bill, good to see you. the kit does not look too bad. i guess you can't sand too much on that top with that thin veneer.
so with a white back, i'm thinking a light colored top. first i thought maybe a teal burst or fade but it's a Flying V; teal won't work. ???? hmmm. OK, how about a burst with ice blue fading to white in the middle. whatever you come up with is going to look great.
cpould you wind pickups if you were sent wooden pieces? i've been watching John Letts making wooden pickups on his basses and they look so good. maybe check out his vid on it and tell me what you think. if i do it it will be a while before i'm starting on that bass, but withing a few months surely.
looking forward – actually I build an Flying-V kit myself.
I routed out the pickup cavities for P90s. Allready built it just need to finish the paintjob.
