Here is an exercise for building right hand speed for bass guitar, I think it will be useful for bass players who play death and thrash metal.
My right hand fingering is a bit unconventional, that is why I put the disclaimer in the beginning.
This was done in one take, so it is sloppy in places. However it should be accurate enough for you to understand and replicate the exercise
Notes on the left hand pattern are
Going up:
G on the E string (3rd fret)
D on the A string (5th fret)
G on the D string (5th fret)
B on the G string (4th fret)
Coming down
A# on the G string (3rd fret)
F# on the D string (4th fret)
C# on the A string (4th fret)
F# on the E string (2nd fret)
But the notes themselves do not really matter, feel free to change them. Focus is on the right hand, not the left hand.

Holy shit!
heyy, thanks for this video. it is about 9years since i started practicing this, and from times to times i come back here practice again. it really helped me a lot through my right hand techniche
Hell… I just I don't use my third finger only to Gallup..but with two fingers i just reach the 200pbm ????
rest pause training applied to bass playing. genius! i cant believe I never thought of this
GREAT EXERCISE! Amazing shirt, you clearly idolize the greatest bass player ever to grace our ears; SDG!
3:02 160BPM
Is this a new technique or an attempt to copy Webster? I know he just repeats 3 2 1 but uses accents.
DEATH
i made it to 180bpm ahah
Why not just use 3 2 1 3 2 1 ?
any tips on make the 3 finger technique to work like an alternating pick ? for example you can just saw away constantly using your 3 finger pattern for a couple measures but this gets extremely difficult when your left hand starts to play different notes across the board( if this makes any sense)
I slowed down video..still not sure the pattern on right hand fingers you’re using…at frost I thought it was 321 but then looks like you got from ring finger to pointer 3123?
What bass is that?
I've just found this video and I guess it's something that can help me increase the tempo and speed I can play with. Now will practice it every morning and see how it goes further! Also I've checked your other videos and it looks like you apply this technique for the covered songs as well, right? Thank you!
What drum program is this? Nice hoodie btw m/
Could you explain more why you do 3-1-2-1 instead of just 3-2-1
80 BPM – 0:09
100 BPM – 1:05
