He played the bass like a guitar. GOAT!
Old Thunder fingers!!!
Never a big Who fan, but I know talent when I see it and hear it…This guy was a monster!!!!!!!
Such a natural John looks like he's contemplating what to have for dinner later…
by the end of his career, he had done shows so many times, he probably told his tech, "wake me up when the show is over".he certainly was a master of his instrument.
Excellent, thank you
His timing is off.
Molto statico e immobbile❤rip
Eeeexceeeleeeennnttt!
He died with his boots on.hope i do????.RIP JOHN. best bass player in 60s& early 70s……sure he'd be happy with that?..
The best bass player ever. No dispute,no question. The best ever.
This just shows that bass doesn't matter in rock music. Metallica made a whole album with no bass. Nobody noticed.
To be fair, this song is super boring for a bass player. Even John struggled to get thru it and stay awake lol. Still, his tone is just all power.
Sorely missed.R.I.P. John and Keith.????????????????????
One of the most aesthetically pleasing basses EVER, pure class
heavy bass heavy strings
He wasn't called Thunderfingers for nothing.
R.I.P. John Entwistle
Died age 57 after snorting a line of coke 10 miles long
One of the BEST rock bass players to ever pick up a four string guitar!!! Super GOOD………… This band is amazing!!!!!
My favorite Bass players in no particular order:
Geddy Lee
John Entwistle
John Paul Jones
Les Claypool
Crazy Wild Card:
Ray Manzarek Although not a bass player he played bass. Truly unique.
That's the thing about John….classically trained, he was all business. And the coolest thing about him was his apparent nonchalance as he played. But, he was very focused and precise with what he wanted to deliver on bass to the song. One can clearly see his mastery of his instrument, but the "okay, I'll do it if I must" aura he displayed was priceless!
These men were about party times!!! As a matter of fact dope killed two of them. But they were so good! John was an amazing bassist. As this video shows us!!!! This is a good song!!!!!
Wow…this guy is awesome!!!
I recall the first time I saw them on American TV back in the day I think they did I Can SEE for Miles. Upon the final note they destroyed all of their gear. It was a bit of a shock!!! John was unreal GOOD!!!!!!
He took a bass line that another bassist may have played pretty straight up and boring and made it in to something more.
Zeppelin, Queen and The Who, three of my favorite bands all have John as their bassist and all three a legend on their instrument. I think if someday I have a son I'll name him John.
I never knew the name of this song even 50 years later. I always thought it was called We're Alright. Alembic basses are the secret sauce.
