Good thing YouTube has 0.5x
These guys are only this good and sound like they are literally born with legendary talent. But no, they got this good from just practicing their asses off since they were little kids, tim and scott kids when they were little played instruments at very young age. I think Clay bass also played it for long time too since he was little. Clay bass started on guitar first then learned bass guitar after for polyphia. I think Clay drummer was only one who didn't stared drumming since he was little. I'm not too sure on it but he did say he was drummer in marching band when he was in high school though, so hes at least teenager started out drumming.
Honestly playing since they were 5 years old and practicing so much, they got at least 100,000+ hours of practice, thats around 11+ years of playtime total and they are all 30-35 age so def checks out with amount of practicing hours.
I watched a Tim Henson interview where he says that he writes all his music on the keyboard and then just transfers it over to guitar.
'You're only as good as your drummer'…
Ringo is the happiest he's ever been right now.
Those crossovers look like tenor drum technique in drumline. Was Clay ever in drumline?
Boom!!! Drummers are bomb!
but its not! its legit ????
Sooooo true "You're only as good as your drummer" great video!
Can confirm, at a live show they still sound on par. They delivered a sonically perfect virtuosic performance of every song I wanted to hear.
Hear is good guitar dual of https://youtu.be/wTqCthvtL8k?si=pOT70YfJnl-46nGo 4:12
Really great reaction, I was glad you saw the live version after wondering if they could play it. Obviously these years later you'll probably know the virtuoso that Tim and Scott have become and their immaculate playing and new styles, especially with Tims multi right hand picks(I'm not a musician you'll know what I mean)
Its going to be interesting to see how it affects music, because right now social media is abuzz with attempts to play like Tim lol, that has a huge effect on how music is shaped for the coming generation of new players
I just don't know how Tim Henson got THAT good THAT young. And how his style is THAT original. It really seems inhuman.
Tim Henson is arguably the best guitarist in his generation.
Tim said that he does, in fact, compose and plan on a computer first, and then learns how to play the composition afterward. Amazing!
@Michael Palmisano, Have you ever made a video about playing Jimmy Bryant guitar songs/parts?
his reaction is soooo awesome, you can see how impressed he is by the look on his face
0:07 – 0:11 is fkn hilarious lol but in the best way
9:04 you literally figured it out
Согласен, слишком у них всего лишнего, много не в тему
Finding Polyphia gave me hope for the future of prog.
Playing to a click is fucking awesome, it lets you play around with your phrasing and just groove AROUND the click and if everyone knows what they're doing its the best shit ever. I play drums and guitar, 30 years experience, I love the click.
People (dumb ones) think its like the same as quantizing or some shit, its not even remotely similar.
Not going to lie, I like the live version better. Just feels more real.
The scene you kept repeating that needed a slow down, his hands looks so robotic!
I love that your not just shitting on the new style, but loving how the art is evolving.
I think the live sounds good, but the recording is better. Now that you bring it up, it does sound artificial and impossibly synced…the timing is too perfect. That said I watched some of Tim’s videos and he is clearly a great guitar player and is absolutely is able to play live though will admit he plays slightly differently as some parts are too difficult. Either way, great band and so refreshing to my ears.
It is like trying to listen to 6 songs at one time what a waste whatever happened to Les is more????
HONEST reaction. Love it!

Polyhpia is basically studio production type music (trap and things like that, mixed with the highest expression of math rock, then you add a bunch of classical and flamenco stylings, get your blues and jazz chords in there, and then throw in a bunch of rock and metal playing experience on top of it. They dont really even have a genre at this point. ive never heard anything that sounds like polyphia before. I cant describe it with any other term than just "Good Music." Its well written, understandable even if you dont understand music theory, and it still has that unapologetic f u attitude from rock, but its just lower case, and in cursive.
I just spent about five hours learning like the first 20 bars of playing god. its so hard to wrap your head around some of what he does. its just combinations of things ive never done before. Im honestly terrified to try the tapping stuff he's written.
Clay’s bass tone is what made me fall in love with the band most of all!
This guy's eyes are something else.
Your videos are very engaging. This was a really good piece to dissect.
G.O.A.T. sounds like the soundtrack to my dark dreams. Kind of like the movies The Cell or Dreamscape.
I'm kind of surprised you haven't done a video on PLINI. the instrumentals Manmade Cities and Every Piece Matters are ones I would recommend.
Also, on the other end of the musical guitar spectrum I would point you to Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra.
Cheers, from Las Vegas.

God never created
Aam and" Steve "
The problem lies
In the three
Sin
Is a terrible thing
But I'm not saying
I'm better than " him "
All have sinned
And needed grace
Whether it was for" him "
When he was created Eve
My sin isn't or wasn't
Less of a disgrace
But I found my JESUS
Many years ago
As LORD and SAVIOUR
With GOD'S grace
Now I pray
For all the " Steve's " out there
There is a place
Called Calvary
Everyone must repent
Whether good or bad
I will judge you Steve
But righteously
According to His will
In the Holy Book
Called the Bible
As I will judge my sin accordingly
The fact of the matter
We all have sinned
And are in need of a Redeemer
And needed God's grace
Which was provided in Jesus Christ
Hell is real
For those who don't know
Repentance
Part of saving grace
Praising God
All my life
Thank you Jesus
For your precious blood
And the Holy Spirit
Convicting me
So "Steve "
Weren't you created by God
As Eve?

Before 3mins I can see your smile. This is so cool.
I do love how Gary Clark Jr popped up next to it.
