Watch Mance Lipscomb doing his “country blues bass”
ideal camera angle at 03.15 where you can see his hand moving up and down (watch the light coming through and going black when he touches the strings).
Watch Bernie Pearl talk about “The Lost Secret of Country Blues”
I’m playing a Gibson L3 from 1925

Thanks so much for sharing your time and knowledge it is greatly appreciated cheers.
That’s pretty cool, Dad!
Oh Daddy!
My first guitar was a Stella 13 string!
It had a big fat bass string that you could play.
The neck bowed forward under all of that tension, so somebody put a screen door brace on the back of it to pull the neck back straight.
You had to tune the screen door brace to tune the guitar, then you had to reach way around that brace to play the damn thing.
You spin it around and play it like a wash tub bass!
That guitar started working about the same time that mom's front door quit.
You wouldn't happen to have a 13 string Stella laying around, do ya?
🙂
