????Description: We continue the quest to find a clean 2013 Gibson MIII for a good deal. This time, I picked up a Cosmic Cobalt “blue” version after the Electric Lime (green) one had to be sent back from last episode. Unfortunately, the pickups had been swapped out and there is also a touch up on the neck of this blue one, but I think I’ll hold onto it for the time being until I find a better one. The seller was apologetic and covered the cost of the missing dirty fingers pickups but unfortunately the correct Dirty Fingers+ set will be a bit tougher to find. Most likely, this one will just stay as-is until a better one shows up.

It’s possible the pickups are wound in reverse to the original. I dare say when you do the restorative replacements it should be fine! Love my odd-ball Gibsons

It's hilarious that they made a hair metal guitar just as hair metal died.
These things are hideous. The fanned out strings on the head stock, the Floyd Rose and his ugly nuts, the fret markers, the mEtAll⚡⚡ finishes and pickups… These are guitars for dudes who stopped growing up at age 12.
It looks like a refinish to me. Originals were painted over the mahogany, allowing the grain to show through, then shot with clear lacquer. Also, the floyd rose cavity should not be painted black!
You can immediately tell if the m3 reissue has dirty finger+ pickups because it is printed in gold lettering right on top of said pickups! Orange glow owner…
Jackson & Hammer called they want all if the the ideas Gibson took and their wallet back as it appears Gibson stole everything else. They should have called it the thief in the night collection.
If it came out in 1981 it could have failed by being ahead of its time.
While Jackson existed at that time, it wasn’t yet what it would become.
What the MIII was copying wasn’t yet there in 81, even if elements of it were.
But who knows?

dangit it looks soooooo cool, but that's all I really like about it. Red one on reverb right now for $2500 is a hard pill to swallow when there's so few out there to try.

Sounds like the seller looks at you like a player and not a dealer. If they knew they were dealing with somebody who deals with guitars on your caliber, they probably would have backed out completely, or put the right pickups in
When I get those "surprises" after purchasing a used guitar, I send it back (seller pays for return). I don't put up with that nonsense.
That is a horrendously bad souding guitar. Worst Gibson I ever heard.
