Boss OC-5 Octave Pedal | Demo + Review | Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Violin, and Bass

Hey folks, welcome to my review of the brand new Boss OC-5 octave pedal! I’ll be demo-ing it on electric guitar, acoustic guitar, electric violin, and bass; if you’d like to skip around there’s timestamps below. I hope you enjoy the video, if you’ve got any questions/concerns please let me know in the comments!

0:00 – Intro
1:13 – Electric Guitar (US Fender Strat)
3:23 – Acoustic Guitar (Taylor 310ce)
5:28 – *Electric Violin (Bridge Lyra 5-string)
6:44 – Bass (MTD Saratoga Deluxe)
8:01 – Review

Everything was recorded direct into my Scarlett 18i8 interface, except for the distortion guitar test which went direct from my Tech21 RK5 flyrig.

*I should note that the OC-5 did perform better in the violin-as-cello test in bass/vintage mode, though I lost the video somehow for that setting (oops…). The tracking was faster and more accurate, but the sound quality was pretty similar the video test above, so I’d still recommend against ditching your POG or Pitchfork for the OC-5 if you want that cello sound.
