Cool!❤
thanks Chris It made my mind up i wanted the rosewood model
I have had the 717 for about a month, and it is the finest guitar I have ever owned. What a clear and beautiful sound. Love it.
Great job on this video ????
Can you please do a 414ce rosewood vs 717 vs 814ce vs 914ce video
Perfection… Taylor's have always been less strum worthy and more finger picking but this thing does both extremely well. Just ordered mine today and it's gonna be the longest 3 days ever!!!!! Haha
This is an excellent review and a very good job at catching the sound from these models.
Beautiful playing also
Thank you
I was very interested until you mentioned the "V" shaped neck. I started on Classical guitar and my thumb goes right behind my fingers. I need a flatter fretboard.
For a true comparison I wish he had tried a 717 with a sunburst top. I have superhearing powers. I am still happy as a clam with my 1998 model 810.
Good sound analogy
13:52, 14:35
I honestly think that they shouldn’t replace the dreadnought with the grand pacific. I think what they should do is keep the dreadnought! I’m not a big fan of the round shaped dreadnought!
I listened to this great video looking away from the screen. Every time I turned around to look at which one sounded the best, the 814ce won.
Chis McKee, I really, really enjoy your videos. You are likable, super informative, great player and sexy as hell lol 😉 (don’t get too excited, I’m married to my gorgeous wife). I hope Alamo Music is paying you well my friend, because you are valuable piece to their success.
So the little bevelled armrest was dropped from Builder Editions?
It seems there were other things dropped as well…
I feel like I'm buying a budget builder's ed…
Great job Chris. Love the 517 & the 717. Thank you for all your professional reviews.
What are the song name at 15:19 & 18:10?
Chris does such a great job of giving us a great review. The sounds here are amazing.
I bought, new, a 1997 814-C. It will never be replaced by any newer Taylor. My only and last 6 string acoustic. Period. Sorry, not sorry.
I gotta say… That 814ce-V sounds like it's been castrated. That's not the 814 sound that I'm used to hearing. The GP's will probably save Taylor- as most other models that got the V's gave up a lot to get a little. JMO
717 seems to have it all
717 kicked the shit outta that crappy 800 series
I Think I'm in love of 517. I have to do something to get that Guitar ????????♂️
814 wins
I think I'm in love with a girl called 517..
It’s interesting how much angst this design has generated. People angry at Taylor, people angry at Andy. In the meantime we can all just buy whatever we want to buy, so why the hate? Personally I would still go for an hd28 but these are great sounding. Nothing wrong with that!
???? i was in San Antonio once. 30 hours by bus (greyhound) from Miami ????. I bought a white beisball hat in one of those shops that are in the middle of nowhere, that i keep and still use with much love and memories from 2003
It is a beautifull town. I saw a cool train in the city. And amazingly beautiful blondy women.
I end up in east side, wich was scary. Houses with no windows, no doors. And mexican people looking at me out of the corner of his eye ????.
This spanish white young boy, with a guitar and a backpack looking for adventure had a bad time there, goals were lost like smoke dissapears in the air. (went to a motel) I thought i was in a movie because the Motel room was identical to those i see in the movies ????. I was the protagonist of my own movie.
Bloody hot in San Antonio ????, Bloddy Cold inside the Buses there, put jacket on, get in the bus, take off the jacket to get of the bus, so got cold. It was freezing inside the bus, and the driver was a black woman with big hands….and…and…ok stop here
I Dont know wich Taylor am gonna buy.
Ah..i remember a young.girl that was in the.bus towards Texas, she persuaded.me to.go with her to.Corpus Cristy, i think it was the.name of a town, but i didnt trust so…ok …who cares about the long story of the 30 hours awake from Miami to San Antonio? ????????
Did Andy Powers ever tell you which he favors of the two 517 or 717??
It has been said. Musical instruments find the owner not a player finds the guitar. This was the case when I went to see the Grand Pacific. Martin Custom shop dreadnaught with Adirondack top, Goncolo (Tiger wood) back and sides. I still hear and feel the first chord I hit. I had to have it. Sold the Taylor 810 same weekend.
What string guage are you using? I tend to rip light guage string off the guitar.
Going to have to hear it in person- from the video it seems like the highs on the 814 are much smoother than either '17. From a recording/producing standpoint, the GP may be a bear to capture if it has more bass and crispy highs.
How do you think it compares with the 414ce ? Ease of playing , etc… ?
