Blues-rock’s biggest ambassador walks us through his three core sounds and the legendary amps providing their firepower.
This time, there were some new members of Bonamassa’s ever-growing-and-shrinking collection of gear—which he spoke about at length earlier this year with Cory Wong on the rhythm guitar kingpin’s Wong Notes podcast for PG—pressed into service, including some recent-arrival Les Pauls, of course, and perhaps the most covetable collection of historic badass amps ever played on the Ryman stage. But rareness, novelty, or familiarity isn’t what determines which toys come out to play. Bonamassa starts by building a rough set list, and then chooses the right instrument and amps for each song. So, watch, look, and listen!

All that to sound without any unique sound or character just Bonamehssa…
What a monster Rig… Love the wall of sound
Speechless
Joe Bonamassa has reinvented Blues & Electric Guitar playing for the 21st century…
They really let Joe go off and I love it so much
Los mortales tenemos pedales para emular eso porque para tener esos amplificadores es imposible. Joe sabe lo que tiene, Joe sabe lo que usa y eso es fuera de alcance de muchísimos.
Nice Joe !
One of the very best rundowns and gear worth of milions presented with humble by Joe.. just awesome to watch with smile on my face 🙂
Nah.
John's enthusiasm for interviewing/witnessing Joe playing is matched only by Joe's reciprocating enthusiasm! Awesome watching this…
It's ridiculous. Unnecessary
I would love to see prs try and replicate that rig lol
What an incredible setup. Nothing bougie there LOL
4:08 sounds epic, so much so i can get the same tone on my orange cr35rt ????????
Joe's rad, great player, super self aware, full nerd, he's just one of us that put in the time and made it. Great shit
such epic tone, just killer. he plays with such precision and consistency, and with serious authority. but, it was not nearly as funny as the interviewer and his hysterical laughter make it out to be.
That interviewer just kept saying “wow!”. ????
What a legend! He always plays the coolest rig
Most of his gears… we need to sell our arms to get one… but without our arms..????
if i had to have all this patching and tech and switching i would quit guitar – just plug in
Impresionante equipo y gran artista 😉
one of the best in the world . absolute elite guitarist … the joe satriaini of blues rock.
He could just plug into any amp and he would sound great.
reminds me of the rig The Edge uses
The overhead to maintain that rig would kill most of us hacks out here. Amazing talent. Thank you.
The JTM45 obliterates them all .
The tone❤❤❤❤
At least it keeps a couple tech n roadies with a job. U bring a axe Fx n their going home????
Get rid of this way too gay guy!.very irritating.
The greatest early rockabilly, rock & roll and country music was recorded with off the rack guitars and amps. No one used 100 pedals or 23 amps and 49 different guitars…..the emphasis was on the music not the gear. THIS does not impress me one bit.
Joe bonamassa e' in grande
Long way from his simple narrow panel tweed rig. Doesnt matter it all sounds great
In the magazine, the tweed twins were called twin reverbs lol, but I knew what they were
I could watch, listen to his music, his stories…interviews…forever.
Joe B.
KWS
Gearheads.
No tech showing their rigs.
It’s all them.
Premier Guitar. ????????
Is it a little silly? Yes. Of course it is. But not to him. He knows what he wants, and knows how to get it. To 99% of the audience, they would not know it if he played the whole show on just the Marshall's and the 4×12 cab. Or the Dumbles he used to have. Remember, there's a whole 10 piece band on stage cranking out their own sounds, and most of them share the same range on the EQ as the guitar does. That lower midrange, midrange and upper midrange is a busy airspace. I am not sure I could pick out specific amp tones with all that going on
Where does the crackle come from while Joe is playing? Already coming out of the speakers or a recording problem?
To my ears his sound is always kind of muddy with booming low end. But he definitely makes it work. I’ve always leaned towards 50 watt Marshalls so I think maybe I’m low end sensitive?
Just incredible!
He's better on acoustic than Electric he really doesn't do much unique
Meanwhile…give B.B. King, Albert Collins, or any other Blues legend ONE GUITAR, ONE AMP, and ONE CABLE and they can tear your heart out.
Still can't figure out why that dude is so popular. At this point he's become known as the guy with the most expensive rig. Look at me I've got tons of gear. Pass…..
The most overrated..thing ever is Dumble.
It’s called overkill.
John and Joe ????????????????????????
I like how many times John says “wow”
Well that was crazy????????
