Moog Taurus 1 Bass pedals & Rickenbacker 4003 Bass Genesis After Glow

Notes to the critics:
1) I have ruined that beautiful Genesis song
2) I can’t play bass and/or bass pedals
3) I am not Mike Rutherford
4) I don’t play 6 or 12 strings
5) My Taurus does not sound like Rutherford
6) My Rick does not sound good and should not have been played with this song
7) My bass pedals rattles my house. So if it does not rattle yours, then YOU have a speaker problem! They are not loud, they are deep & heavy. Use a subwoofer (bass reflex). Unfortunately Youtube compresses audio as well. The original recording is pretty good. No music studio here…. just a 4 channel mixer and standard PC soundcard.
Shoot me now.

  • What I find so weird about the bass pedals is that during the part around 2:40 is that the implied chord is a D, but both Mike and yourself play a C pedal tone until the outro.

  • Jon Camp of Renaissance played a Rickenbacker and Moog Bass Pedals. Their live encore “Ashes Are Burning” gave Jon the space to solo on both instruments. Sitting in a gym floor at Brunel University, he hit one note on the Moog that transferred from the stage right up my spine! Awesome.

  • Don't listen the critics. You do it very well !! I've seen a lot of concerts from Genesis (more than 20), since 1976. Keep on !

  • Is your Rick made of dainty Irish Crystal or something?

    Sounds downright prissy.

  • this is so fucking bad ass. That Taurus sounds great, and the Rickenbacker is the best bass ever, in my opinion. You nail both parts masterfully. I love Genesis and getting to hear this sort of thing performed is so nice

  • There needs to be more bass players in popular music that play bass guitar and pedals at the same time. Fantastic cover! Super powerful sound!

  • I think this is better than “an unaccompanied bass pedal solo from Michael Rutherford.” Nice job! One of my favorite Genesis tunes.

  • Your videos are what pushed me over the edge to get a Minitaur and a 12 step. Not the same as a real Taurus but I enjoy it.

  • haha, awesome this time <3 – my Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro doesn't shake the house but rattles my head'n ears 😀 – I'll eventually listen to this video again through one of my vintage stereo systems with 130cm high fridge size speakers .. THEN the house will rattle, and my neighbour in the next house 25m away will ask me again to install some tweeters in his house, 'cause he can only hear the bass, transferred through the EARTH B-) – oh and I've started to look out for a midi basspedal, not necessarily a Moog as they're really rare and Xpensive €€€ — and last but not least a short note to your written intro: I'm an humble multi-instrumentalist and my friends say "for that you always pretend not to know to play keyboards and piano, you play them really well" 😀 – sunny gtx from the Lake of Constance

  • I enjoyed seeing the joy on your face!!!! 🙂 Could you tell us what settings you had on your T1? Was it just "Taurus" or was it "Variable"? If the latter, could you post a photo of the settings?

  • I disagree with your points in the description! You played your idea of the song. Sure it's not a 1:1 cover, that's why I liked it. The bass sound adds another voice to the song, the Taurus doesn't rattle my speakers, maybe because I'm using good big headphones.
