If the 2 and 4 positions were good enough for SRV, Jimi, Frusciante, this guys opinion is moo! Anyway, for a guy with a guitar channel, this guy yups more than he plays. What a poser!
So many talking down on strats various switch positions. If you can't make it sound good, it's not the strat, it's you. Not liking them is one thing, but so many comments show what they actually mean. I get choices made based on what you play though, and absolutely dig it. Just, I like all the positions, and find I am uncomfortable with being "stuck" or "restricted" on what's used, and, my strat does reflect this in its setup. I feel humbuckers on a strat are a waste of cnc time.
could not disagree more, first third and fifth are achievable on other guitars with single coils/p90s. The 2nd and 4th belong solely to the strat, you need a guitar with that pickup configuration to get those sounds, no other way around it.
I keep saying it, it’s time to Nashville one of your Teles! If you don’t use 2 and 4 you could even get away with just a 4-way switch and *only * add a Strat middle position to your normal Tele lineup.
With the amount of people talking about the 2nd and 4th position being “what makes a strat a strat”, it honestly seems like y’all would be real sad playing Stratocasters from… oh, I dunno, the first 20 years of production. Y’know, the ones that people all covet? Lol. No disrespect to the 2 & 4 lovers, your opinion is valid, people were trying to get those sounds with the original 3-way switches. Still, in all, that wasn’t what Leo designed. That middle pickup, however, Leo definitely designed. That middle pickup changed the guitar world forever.
Reth, don't confuse people. ???????? You actually are Gibson & Tele guy (2 pickup) ????????…And I bought a Strat solely for the 2nd and 4th position… I use mostly Tele and LP Ltd
I really liked Mark Knopfler's tone growing up but since I got my first strat I'm souring on the sound. It worked really well for him and the noise cancelling is good for higher gain but for clean and cleanish sounds, middle pickup rules. Tele buries them all though.
This is why Rhett is not a "Strat Guy"! The Secret Weapons are Position 2 and 4, because no other guitar makes that sound!
Actually I think 2 and 4 are what make a strat sound like a strat to every ear

You can play sweet home Alabama in the second position????♂️
Ive been using the 4 a lot lately. Twangy like the 5 but no buzz from the amp
He's got a bass string out of tune. Regardless, the neck position is the king of the Strat.
Position 4 on the strat is the best possible clean tone(subjective). I can never get enough of it.
Position 4 is the best of all positions
2 and 4 IS what makes the Strat great.
You just don't like it ????
This will feed the algorithm and earn much
If u dont like 2 & 4 then Teles are wat u want. Im a big Tele guy & Three switches are all i need 🙂

“4th position!” – Cory Wong
imagine not playing the 2 and 4 positions on a fucking strat

The 1 for lead is great, the 2 for slap/ thumping is dope too

Of course not, your tone lacks of personality and strats are tough to play! Sorry
2 is my favorite position
What about on a Plus with Laces? I like 1, 2, and 5.
The 2 & 4 position is where Tha funk lives , C’mon Rhett ! ????

2 and 5 are where the soul of a good Strat lives.
I always use 2 or 3 hahaha
Trying to learn to love 4 btw
1 up!
Neck pickup and 4 position for me on a strat.
2 and 4 you never play?!?! That legitimately is the sound of a Strat. I’m leaving the chat now.
2 and 4 are the reason I play a strat. 5 and 3 rolled back a bit. Unless it's my deluxe with a hb on the bridge then it's 1 and 3 often.
So funny cus I only use 2 and 4 haha, cheers mate
2 and 4 are the secret weapon of the strat! Otherwise, it's just a Tele.
You're absolutely right.
I used my current strat in that position and I think he’s right lol
