  • I WAS FINED 100 BUCKS IN 1974 AY THE HAYLOFT ON WASHINGTON. THE LAW WAS ANYTHING OVER 120 DECEBILLS, I WAS 160 !

  • According to my watch my 5 Watt Swart hits 101 decibels right near the speaker. It's huge through a 2×12 with Golds. Unless you do a lot of clean or have no PA, 30 Watts can be too much. 20 years ago it seemed 30 was the sweet spot. Now it's around 20. I started in 1980 and needed 50 watts just to keep up. You kids don't have to ruin your backs lol! also, purple sparkle Teles need mirror pick guards!

  • Id like you guys to do a blindfold test though you have done many with a Gibson v Epiphone etc and sometimes get it way wrong. What i want to know is what is the point of diminishing return. How much better is a £3000 amp to a £800 amp say?

  • 'If you have an expensive guitar then you need a premium guitar amp to go with it!" – that may be the silliest thing I've ever read on YouTube. I modify ~ $300 Blackheart amps for a couple hundred dollars adding a 3-way voicing switch, premium tubes and upgraded resistors and capacitors in the signal path. They sound fantastic and I just built one for a band. You don't need to spend more than ~ $600 to get a good tube amp. My pro buddy just played an entire gig with a used Ibanez guitar he picked up for $139 and it was FINE. Buying expen$ive gear will absolutely NOT make you a better player. That said, I would love to get my hands on an Imperial some day :o)

  • Princeton or an AC30, that would be my recommended choice.

Turn the bass on the Princeton to 3, treble up and volume to 8 or 9 and you will get overdrive. It's not crunch or metal but it's proper overdrive. You can then use your guitar volume to set the drive. It's fun to play with.

  • What is that guitar the captain is using?? The one with three pickups and the jazzmaster vibrato??

  • IMO, for amps in the 15-20 watt range, to truly appreciate their tone, you need it dialed well above bedroom volume.

  • Worst amp demo on YT. Such a shame with these awesome amps. Too much talking, no good guitar playing.

  • Nice! — I think with pedals included the Hamstead is my favorite. having used all — analog imperfections can be added — clean headroom is beautiful ????

  • “The best amps that WONT sell on our site”

    2,600 for the magnatone… lol

  • Got 22 guitars and a few 'nice' amps….but now I need to sell some guitars and get a GREAT amp…the Hamstead sitting next to me (not mine) is what I NEED!! That, or a Tone King Imperial.[Couple Weeks Later: Got my TK Imp MKii….nice….but no Hamstead 'magic' so I upgraded speaker to similar Cream Back…nice improvement. Still…the Hamstead was what I preferred so the TK is on the market and I'm picking up the only used Artist 20 in the USA in a few days.].

  • Even after yrs of doing these, they still talk over each other too much. Pete has gotten better, but still loves the sound of his own voice.

  • Maybe a “well duh!” Comment but every amp sounds like a variant of Marshall or Fender

  • man, i kinda want to run the magnatone and the fender princeton together, such a huge crunchy sound but yet crystal clear

  • I just found out about this amp: "JJ ONE" pure class A guitar tube amplifier. Hand made by the people who bring you JJ vacuum tubes. I can't find much information on this amp. I think that it sells for just over 8,000 Euros and has a twin speaker cabinet but can't find information about that either. Their web site jj-electronic doesn't tell much. This just Might be the Best guitar amp that money can buy ? FYI

  • Love the Hamstead. I’ve never understood the tremolo effect – always sounds like an out of tune guitar to me.

  • To say "Best" amps you really need to add an amp technician's perspective. Just because they are expensive does not mean they are well built.
