Eddie & Alex caught a kick-ass Jeff Beck show, his rockabilly stuff was absolutely killer! In 2010 Beck did a tribute to Les Paul here in nyc, it was a full on rockabilly concert doing classics by Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran etc. Ed & Al probably witnessed one of the rare times Beck did a show like that in those days- mind blowing! You can hear Rockabilly riffs & licks thrown into Eddie's playing throughout the years, you may not notice it at first but they are definitely there.
Hard to believe EVH & Jeff Beck are both gone now.
Never heard the AC/DC thing. I heard about Peter Gabriel, Cream, the Dave Clark Five, Allan Holdsworth, and I read somewhere he liked the Edgar Winter Group.
Dave Clark 5?
You TOTALLY left out The Scorpions. If you want to hear Eddie's "unique" guitar techniques before Van Halen ever recorded a single solitary note listen to Virgin Killer by the Scorpions. Released in 1976. Their 4th album. Uli John Roth was the real innovator. Don't believe me? Fine. Listen to the early Scorpions.
Great research. Quite interesting. Thanks for the video.
I believe Eddie also mentioned that he stopped buying albums and the last album he bought was Peter Gabriel's So
Eddie also liked Grand Funk Railroad.
Panama was Eddies vesion of an AC/DC song. You forgot Allan Holdsworth.
Eddie mentioned listening to Ozric Tentacles in a 1994 interview.
